Well this is the live thread for Season 3 of Battlestar Galactica.. Basically for people who lives in the Eastern and Central times zones. There will be another thread for the Western Time Zone...
So say we all..
I agree... The season just started and I don't think they glorified the suicide bombings....
It was good sci-fi...I escaped reality for a bit and had my brain twisted a good bit. Now back to Foley.
I'm watching it again.
I think so too....
I think Jammer and the turncoats saw enough and started shooting it out with the toasters.
No but they just explained how it happens and lent it some credence. So as long as we are in Iraq imposing our will the populace will be justified in engaging in barbaric tactics seeing as how we operate that way.
I think that this season looks good from a fictional story line but I can see the entertainment and art's community's thought process on display here.
I think Edward James Olmos is a great actor, but I also know he is quite the liberal. Unfortunately, I'm thinking this show is an apologist for underground Iraqi tactics versus the American troops.
That bothers me.
My thoughts exactly. I was maybe 5 seconds from just turning it off.
Thrace suddenly accepting the kid and cylon dude seems way contrived.
Stuff like saying the show is anti-Bush, anti-Christian, glorifies suicide bombing, etc., those complaints are not justified by the actual events portrayed in the show.
I didn't know Bush was a cylon...
Odds are good that Thrace knifes the dude AND the baby next episode. I think she is playing up to the dude to effect an escape.
He's not, but Rove is.
Suicide bombers are understandable.
American soldiers are evil.
Police trying to stop terrorism are traitors.
Don't forget, Cylons say grace at the table, using these words: "Heavenly Father, we thank you for the bounty we are about to receive." I just caught that on re-watching it. Bastards.
Oh, and cylon priests are sex-crazed perverts too.
The Cylons probably injured the child so that the bonding would happen.
FIrst suicide missions in WWII were American ~ flying out to attack ships beyond the point of return.
The Japanese were highly impressed.
The Maryland 400 saved the American Revolution as Washington withdrew the Army from New York to safety in Pennsylvania.
You really can't look at this stuff through the narrow perspective of current events ~
I disagree. Islamic suicide bombings are not motivated by survival concerns. The closer BSG analogue to the Islamic suicide bomber are the cylons who kill themselves in order to advance the cylon cause, with no survival motivation whatsoever.
If one is to assert that the suicide bomber in tonight's BSG is meant to be like an Islamic suicide bomber, then it follows that the original invasion of the twelve colonies would be the wars in Iraq/Afghanistan, and the humans would be the analogy for Muslims throughout. As someone who has seen every episode to date, this is wildly inconsistent with what has happened so far and how the two sides have behaved.
So just in case anyone is confused on this matter:
Cylons = Muslims
Humans = the civilized world trying to survive
Don't know about that one. She seemed to have a bout of conscience about the child.
Besides, I have missed the scene in where Tigh beheaded a prisoner also...
I refer to allusions. One's that exist.
"Save humanity from damnation, by the love of God." "Heavenly Father..." "The Word of God..." These are Christian expressions, mimicked by Cylons in BG.
"Cylons = Muslims
Humans = the civilized world trying to survive."
Ching!
Give that man a Non-DNC approved banana!
