BG may be losing me, with this episode.
We the audience are just being jerked around -- wildly tonight. It's getting to be just another soap opera.

You think it's going to be all about genocide, etc., but what do we end up with? A link to Earth.
Three thousand years old!!
I don't know where they are going with that, but I'm going to guess that they have a cool backstory for the whole earth/13th Tribe thing.

Yeah, liberalism. Guaranteed to erase any civilization it comes in contact with.

Yep - just when they started in with the "War of the Worlds - the martians are vulnerable to a common disease/whatever that humans can survive", they spring the whole "3000 years ago" thing and earth. I like it. They catch people off guard.

I haven't read anywhere, but I think this is similar in ways to the US situation with Japan at the end of WWII. We could completely annihilate them, but would we be right? Wouldn't that make us the same as them, after what they did to the Chinese and the Koreans?
No, I don't think of Helo as a traitor. He was trying to be true to himself. If the Cylons were attacking, he would fight them as hard as anyone. The same applies to attacking them on a mission.
The cylons are murderers as a race, but his wife is a cylon. Is his wife then a murderer? They say she is a machine, but can machines exercise free will? Can machines make a choice? Sharon does both. If she is not a machine then neither are the rest of the Cylons.
The question then becomes, what is a human? If I present you with something that looks like a human, moves like a human, processes the same sensory inputs in the same way as a human, needs food, air, and water like a human, then you might have a human. Anyone remember Gena? You couldn't rape a toaster, and a toaster isn't going to be suicidal after you try. I think that is where Helo is, with all his questions. He was right to say killing them like that is a crime against humanity.
All in all, a very good episode. The writer changed my mind, if you become your enemy then what have you won. Think about the Dummies for a minute. They think we are all racist homophobes in lockstep and they hate us. But look at this last election, jew-bashing, slurs against anyone who was not white and conservative, and a withchunt to out homosexuals, all brought to you by the party of tolerance. You risk becoming what you hate.

That's basically what they are. There is no question about morality about it.
Helo is letting his affection for Sharon create an emotional cloud to effect his judgment.

Helo needs a trip out the airlock with his wife.
To: Hawk1976
"I don't think of Helo as a traitor."
He violated direct military orders.
And sabotaged a military mission.
You don't think that qualifies?
