My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

I was reading the 23rd Psalm the other night and realized how much I can relate to it being a prayer of thanksgiving. I revised it a little bit, and I will say it as prayer on Thanksgiving. I thought you might like it.

[A remake of the Psalm of David.]

Thank you, Jesus, for everything.

For you truly are my shepherd, and all of my needs are met.

You have given me soft green fields to sleep in: You have lead me to still, peaceful lakes.

You have restored my soul to new. Any righteousness I have done is because You have guided me there.

Yes, even when I have been so close to death as to have been in its shadow, I had no fear of evil: for you, Jesus, have been with me; your word and your Spirit, they comfort me.

You have given me a feast in front of those who wish me harm: You have blessed me as though I am royalty; my cup is full and running over.

Most assuredly your goodness and mercy have been with me all the days of my life: and I look forward to living in the house of the LORD for ever. Thank you Jesus.

Thank you. I hope you also enjoy a very good Thanksgiving.

Things have been kinda hecktic lately, not much time to let my "artsy/spiritual" part of my brain work.

It looks like Thanksgiving will be a good break.

Scubie

Just wanted to share an interecting activity you might want to consider for Thanksgiving. My little brother was playing a game with his friends which is similar to "I'm going on a picnic..." Instead, however, it is called "I'm thankful for..."

Going in a circle, each person says something which he or she is thankful for, in alphabetical order. For example, if person 1 said "Apples", then person 2 would say "Apples and Bubble Baths," and person three would say, "Apples, Bubble Baths, and Cable TV." The game would continue in this manner until the entire alphabet was covered, and would then begin again if desired. An alternative to playing with a group is to list things you're thankful for for a few alphabets worth until several letters run out, then omit those letters until you're down to a few letters that still can be used. (Warning: I filled five pages doing this.) :D

A Meal with Friends and Family

Steaming, the lovely browned turkey is laid upon the platter,
and the subtle sweet sharp scent of cranberries edges the air.
Yams and brown sugar glaze, and pumpkin pies so fair,
and so many other treats sure to make you feel fatter.

Family noises mixed with laughter and love abounds,
as it swirls around the house as old welcomes come back.
From another room the sounds of a football game, “It’s a SACK”
and groans as Uncle Edgar takes the won buck, joking around.

Chatter as each families histories get caught up and gossip exchanged,
to the quick clatter of the best dishes being set for what is to come.
Scents float and greet each new arrival, adding up to a lovely sum,
and the centerpiece is finally set and most carefully arranged.

A call, and the sounds of hurrying feet come next to be sure,
and a jovial crowd descends upon the feast with happy greed.
And the happy cooks watch with a satisfied eye as we feed,
the season comes and family blends, the turkey just the lure.

Don't wait until everything is just right. It will never
be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles
and less than perfect conditions. So what? Get started
now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and
stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-
confident and more and more successful.
