My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Sorry. It's been a long time since I was in the Northern Tier states and I've forgotten about how much earlier the temperatures turn up there. While the temps get colder and earlier, the people there are some of the warmest any where in this country.

I hope to get up to Eagle Lake very soon to get in some fishing. When I do, the temp at the start of the day will probably be in the low to mid 20's. Then you can get some payback. ;)

Ladybugs invade by the thousands
At the end of October in Washington and some surrounding
areas, ladybugs collect in swarms of thousands, all looking
for a warm place for winter. The Washington Post reported
on the annual invasion, in which exterminators say some
homes have close to 40,000 ladybugs covering the walls
and windows. The invasion lasts only a few days as the
bugs try to find a warm place to rest for the winter. Most
ladybugs die in the dry indoor air, creating yet another
problem: the smell. Ladybugs reportedly leave behind a
"gut-churning" odor that tends to stay in the air long
after the bugs die. Also, the Post reported that the bugs
often leave a yellowish stain on surfaces during an
invasion. The annual plague of ladybugs is caused
specifically by the Asian lady beetle, a species that
has been in the United States for about 13 years. The Post
said the cause of the initial invasion remains unclear.

Morning Lady. Is that structure just floating in the air?

Ah, and it is morning on the West Coast. Nearly 1:30PM at my house.

I have to do some short errands soon, it's on the chilly side here. I will prepare today with a warmer coat and gloves.

Yeah, that pesky little thing called time zones. It's 10:33am here, but 1:33pm there (and I don't always consider this).

It's 60 degrees with clear skys here right now. The wind is blowing, so the temp probably feels colder.

It only looks like it's floating. It is Mont St. Michel off the northern coast of France.

During low tide you can walk or ride to it. When the tide is in, boats are all that can reach it. And, when there's a mist or rain, the castle seems to float on air.

On this date in history:

In 1648, the Treaty of Westphalia ended the Thirty Years'
War in Europe.

In 1861, the first telegram was transmitted across the
United States from California Chief Justice Stephen Field
to U.S. President Abraham Lincoln in Washington.

In 1901, daredevil Annie Edson Taylor became the first
person to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel.

In 1945, following Soviet ratification, U.S. Secretary of
State James Byrnes announced the U.N. charter was in effect.
Establishment of the United Nations came less than two months
after the end of World War II.

In 1984, the FBI arrested 11 alleged chiefs of the Colombo
crime family on charges of racketeering in New York City.

In 1989, TV evangelist Jim Bakker was sentenced to 45 years
in prison and fined $500,000 for fleecing his flock.

In 1990, U.S. Rep. Donald Lukens, R-Ohio, resigned over
sex charges.

In 1993, the death of Burundi President Melchior Ndadaye
in a military coup was confirmed.

In 1995, the United Nations marked its 50th anniversary
with the largest gathering of world leaders in history.

In 2001, Pakistan officials said they needed no help in
securing the nation's nuclear weapons despite fears they
might fall into the hands of Islamic extremists.

Also in 2001, an estranged sister-in-law of Osama bin Laden
told a U.S. television show that she believed some members
of the Saudi royal family supported the suspected terrorist.

In 2002, police arrested two suspects in the 3-week series
of sniper attacks in the Washington area that killed 10 and
wounded three others. John Allen Muhammad, 41, and John Lee
Malvo, 17, were found sleeping in a car at a rest stop
outside Frederick, Md.

In 2003, an era in aviation history ended when the supersonic
Concorde took off from New York to London on its final flight.

In 2004, a series of severe earthquakes in northern Japan
killed 21 people and injured more than 1,500 others.

In 2005, Hurricane Wilma roared into Florida, packing 125
mph winds and lashing rain, inflicting heavy damage to
beaches and buildings. Ten deaths were reported and some
2.5 million South Floridians were without power.

Also in 2005, U.S. President George Bush nominated Ben
Bernanke, his chief economic adviser, to replace Alan
Greenspan as Federal Reserve Board chairman.

And, in 2005, a violent day in Iraq saw three bombs near
Baghdad hotels kill 10 people and gunmen kill another 12
construction workers south of Baghdad.

My wife did a geneology search of my family name and discovered my family roots are in France (Yeck!). Oh well, at least I have an ancestor who was born in the U.S. in 1653 at Rappahannock,VA. His father came over here from Great Britain. Hopefull this has watered down the "French" part of our heritage.

American French seem much different than European ones. Apparently their rudeness and bad habits are cultural and not genetic.
