I should probably explain something. I use a an msntv. I don't own a mouse.
And I think I answered my own question.
Obviously, you have a lot of motivation to undertake this project. I wish you had some better equipment, because it's helpful in this type of investigation.
Back in the Dark Ages of the Clinton Administration, I used to collaborate with a guy known as "jqp" on the Whitewater newsgroup. For years, we gathered every news article we could find on Clinton scandals, stored them on our computers, and used search utilities to connect-the-dots for research purposes.
Although we were not professional journalists or researchers, we broke a few major news stories (and several minor ones) and we did some incredible damage to the Clinton administration. Some of those articles are documented on my FR home page. We could not have done it without some good basic software.
So I believe that a person like you could find a smoking gun in the Duke scandal - but you really need some basic good tools and procedures to do it. When you have thousands of details to sort through, it's too inefficient to do it manually.
I haven't been following the case, but my sister is a Duke graduate. I'll have to ask her about it sometime.

If you had a thread with 100 posts, each one containing a link formatted like #46 - how much work is involved in turning those 100 posts into 10 posts on a new thread that look like #45?
To clarify - I mean the text and the link would be packaged into the format style of #45.
Maybe your sister would like one of the blue wristbands in support of the lax players. They're blue silicone with inlaid printing, and they're really neat. I'll FReepmail details.

The goal is eventually to cull the threads for links and sort them into their proper place. I'm sure we're talking a few thousand. Still working on the best way to go about that.
Looks very good & user friendly.
