For your bookmarking assistance, this is a reference list of links to the Aug 2006 or newer Free Republic threads on the topic of the JonBenet Ramsey murder case and the possible arrest of John Mark Karr as a suspect in her murder.
I had read that the stun gun proposed as the model used was discounted by the manufacturer as having produced the wounds seen in the photographs. But who knows with all the spin going in so many directions. A cattle prod, or other device, might explain that.
No argument from me on LEO eff ups from the very beginning.
I've never thought it was intentional, just general run of the mill incompetence.
I always ascribed the Ramsey's behavior to the realization that their lives had come into the grip of idiots and their family was in very real danger of being railroaded.

'This is the worst thing - an electric cattle prod. They use this on your body. If they press that button, your whole body will be in shock. If they do it for too long, you lose consciousness but you do not die. If they press this button, you can die. ...
I wonder if anyone has done a comparison with ALL models of stun gun and cattle prod available at that time? Did Smit? I know he looked at one model but I don't know how many he compared...
I think Karr just said that cause that is what he wants his defense to be. He knows good and well this wasn't an accident, but he is trying to save face and if he really did do this crime he is going to try to make himself appear a bit better to prevent getting the death penalty or more time.
FBI:
"... There are only about 35 cases per year of genuine kidnapping for ransom in the United States (most "kidnaps" reported actually regard child custody). ..."
That is for all ages, children to adults.
" ... The consequences are severe; 95% of the kidnappers are apprehended and receive heavy prison sentences. ..."
There was not a rush to nail the Ramseys. There was a very concerted effort to CLEAR the Ramseys so the case could move on. They could never be eliminated.
I didn't see it or buy it, but I might be able to find a synopsis. Some excerpts are on the new thread - about 4th or 5th post.
And about "blood blisters" - I had no idea what she was talking about - I don't know what those are. She claimed they were on her private parts.
No, the Ramseys were not excluded. You have to look very carefully, because Mary Lacy never says again what she stated at the time.
I think if he is charged and found guilty and the judge does not give him the DP, I will be outraged.
The grand jury couldn't decide which family member to charge with which part of the crime. Double jeopardy would attach if the wrong one were charged and taken to trial, then acquitted.
Certainly, he could say it in a written confession but by that time, attorneys would have told him not to do that. How do you "examine" it. Do you turn it into an insanity case??
Do you just let him plead out 2nd degree and get away with "murder" in the first??
It eliminates a trial. Despite all his "communications", I don't think this guy wants a televised trial. He's got Unabomber mindset.
But I think the Ramsey family deserve all the truth that can be extracted from him and if there is any possibility that he has harmed others.
A trial should be mandatory...No plea!!
About PR's handwriting:
Transcript from November 27/01
Wood: With respect to Patsy Ramsey, you have -- it's been described at one point again on a scale that we don't necessarily, I don't know if it's an agreed-upon scale, but for purposes of trying to discuss the reports, there was a description of a one-to-five scale with five being elimination. And you have publicly acknowledged that the sum total of the handwriting analysis done by the investigation on Patsy Ramsey that you would agree that she was somewhere about a 4.5; is that right, on that scale?
Hunter: That's roughly right.
Wood: Not eliminated but very close to it, am I right?
Hunter: Yeah, I can't remember, you know, I would be more comfortable saying four on that scale. I can't remember the 4.5.
Wood: And I think when you were asked about it, you said that that was close, the bottom line being that they placed the chances of her writing the note as I believe you described it as very low --
Hunter: Right.
Wood: -- is that right?
Hunter: Yes, very low.
Wood: And without asking for names, there were other individuals who were under suspicion whose handwriting was analyzed that were not eliminated as the author of the note; am I right?
Hunter: That's correct.

If post# 2575 is evidence of Patsy's guilt then no wonder she was never brought up for trial. Read it again and think innocent. You'll have a complelety different view on those things.
If she didn't do it, why would she have an explanation for things being left the way they were?
Blood blisters are a type of blister that is filled with blood rather than the fluid commonly associated with blisters. Blood blisters are caused by a rupture of the blood vessels underneath the skins surface. This rupture is usually caused by some form of trauma, such as pinching.
Like all forms of blisters, blood blisters form on the upper layer of the skin. They are the bodys natural response to pressure or injury. What differentiates blood blisters from other blisters is the fact that the trauma caused the blood vessels to rupture.
What I don't get is why people take it as evidence of Patsy's guilt that she can not explain every little detail about the placement of evidence after the crime. It makes sense that if things were moved around while she was asleep she'd have no answer....duh!
Next, I commented based on what I saw with my own eyes - I have never claimed to be a handwrtiting expert. If you will read my comments WRT PR and the handwriting, I said that the way they look (to me) so strikingly similar would tend to make me think she *didn't* write it.
