For your bookmarking assistance, this is a reference list of links to the Aug 2006 or newer Free Republic threads on the topic of the JonBenet Ramsey murder case and the possible arrest of John Mark Karr as a suspect in her murder.
the defense team doesn't really need it - its not the veracity of the test they would challenge, its the chain of custody of the material, since the 13 marker result was found years later - and its that result that would be used to uniquely identify Karr.
right - but the one I quoted above suggested that the defense could "be left without their own samples for testing" or some such thing...that's where I was getting that. It is becoming obvious that most of the people that are speaking to journalists are guessing...
Alex Hunter was before Mary Keenan-Lacy
Yes - Linda Arndt told her story on shows like GMA. She didn't come across well, so wasn't seen much.
I am wishy-washy on the whole Karr handwriting thing anyway...one sample from over 10 years before the RN was written is hardly enough to go on.
did you see Patsy's exemplar? its stunning.
I am looking for it now --- went back to 8/24
Will post it again when I find it - one thing about me is I always post the links to the articles :-)
It was a 2nd tiny spot in her panties, commingled with her own blood. I would've sworn we heard there were two others mixed with hers, but that may have been a media misunderstanding and then misreported.
If it matches some from under the fingernails, which they say it does, then maybe there is more of it, but my hunch is that if they are saying there is a lot for testing, like to give to Karr's people, it may be because it's PCR or something like that, where they amplify the sample they have by replicating it multiple times - then can use any of the "copies."
He knows it exists now, but wasn't involved in the latest testing and results. He was on the case in 1999, which is what people were asking him about - his involvement.
The DNA "X" was a secret and a bombshell when the deposition was released that revealed it.
Here it is...

Former DA Says DNA Will Be Key In Ramsey Case (from 8/24/06)
~SNIP~
According to Grant, DNA will be the critical evidence in the case and reports of there not being any good samples left is simply not true.
"There are clean samples and there is a clean DNA profile and its there just waiting for a known to be matched with it," Grant said.
Regardless of whatever DNA might have been swabbed in Thailand, Grant said the Boulder DA's office will gather its own DNA from Karr, either with his consent or with a court order
~SNIP~
But he also says he has not idea what the unknown evidence would be since he thinks everything is out there already.
Uh oh! I was a babe in the woods so I'm sure whatever I said then only barely relates to what I've learned and what I know now - and continue to learn.
I learn more from other cases, like Danielle Van Dam's and Samantha Runnion's and Jessica Lunsford's and the Groene Family's and Laci Peterson's and Pamela Vitale's and so forth, which often applies to older stuff.
"There are clean samples and there is a clean DNA profile"
I took that they have clean samples to share if needed and that they have a clean 13 marker DNA profile"
The source above is not they only one I ran across. I have heard it on TV also, but then I have heard opposite also.
I chose to believe that they do have a full 13 marker DNA profile and enough samples to share now due new technology needing less of a sample to get a full 13 marker DNA profile from.
Notice that I didn't do a thread list today, because there isn't one, lol.
I had thunderstorms all day, anyway, but there is no news. I debated about pinging a "no ping" ping, but some people are really touchy about pings, so I didn't do it.
There will be stuff tomorrow, so I'll try to grab some reports and just put those in an update, if no one starts any new threads.
We need a new thread and the mods will start asking for a new one due to this long one bogging down the server. They requested this on the Natalee Holloway threads.
I no longer start threads or host/manage them after all the crap I went through on the Elizabeth Smart and Natalee Holloway threads.
Oh, that was Bob Grant. he's being used as a commentator a lot on TV, too.
He wasn't a Boulder County DA, he was Adams County DA previously and was on the team that Hunter put together of other DA's throughout the state, before the GJ.
He has worked on the case, in that respect, so has seen some inside stuff. Those guys were kind of like special masters, in a way.
I was thinking of starting one, anyway, since this wasn't going to be a comment thread at first, but turned into one.
I didn't realize that long threads bogged anything down. I thought too many threads did, lol. I guess I could consolidate all the thread link threads into one and we could continue. *sigh*
Thanks... I don't know who everyone is.
I really did not follow this case over the years. I see myself as a "fresh" view on all of it.
