The guy was not in jail...it's been all over the news. They arrested him at his apartment in Thailand. He has no reason to confess unless he did it. Also, the rumor is that samples were sent from Thailand that match the DNA found on Jon Benet's body. As for his wife, she alibied him and may have lied to the police. She could be brought up on obstruction charges and in my opinion, she should be. She helped this sicko stay free to destroy other kids.
I've read several crime histories that have nutcases coming out of the woodwork to confess to crimes they didn't commit.
I think this joker seems like he could be guilty, but after 10 years of false hope, I'm waiting until they have something more than the word of a journalist to offer up as evidence.
People confess to crimes they didn't commit all the time. They want the notariety.
So far, there is no compelling evidence that this guy did it. I'm hoping something more substantive comes out of the press conf in 2 hours in Boulder.
