Lance Bass Announces He Is Gay

Lance Bass, band member of 'N Sync, says he's gay and in a "very stable" relationship with a reality show star. Bass, who formed 'N Sync with Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick, tells People magazine that he didn't earlier disclose his sexuality because he didn't want to affect the group's popularity.

"I knew that I was in this popular band and I had four other guys' careers in my hand, and I knew that if I ever acted on it or even said (that I was gay), it would overpower everything," he tells the magazine.

'N Sync is known for a string of hits including "Bye Bye Bye" and "It's Gonna Be Me." The band went on hiatus in 2002. Bass has also found headlines for undertaking astronaut training and failing to raise money for a trip into space.

So Lance probably let his hopes (and his you-know-what) get very high, until BS chose Justin as the one to whom she would give her much-bragged-about virginity. At this point Lance's fragile ego may have collapsed altogether, and he went over to the "other side" for revenge.

If your hypothesis made a bit of sense, revenge wouldn't be going gay for revenge, it would be bagging Christina Aguilera, also of MMC, and who carried a chip on her shoulder after Britney got all the attention despite being an inferior singer.

What this means is that at last, *NSYNC is over and done with, and the only one in the group that will survive with his fame intact is Timberlake, whose phrase "wardrobe malfunction" is part of the lexicon, and is rolling in the Benjamins as the composer of the McDonald's "I'm Lovin' It" campaign.

I am delighted that *NSYNC is officially dead, because I think it and Timberlake are responsible for driving the last nail in the coffin of quality pop music. The Backstreet Boys, in comparison, were the Platters, IMHO.
