So Lance probably let his hopes (and his you-know-what) get very high, until BS chose Justin as the one to whom she would give her much-bragged-about virginity. At this point Lance's fragile ego may have collapsed altogether, and he went over to the "other side" for revenge.

If your hypothesis made a bit of sense, revenge wouldn't be going gay for revenge, it would be bagging Christina Aguilera, also of MMC, and who carried a chip on her shoulder after Britney got all the attention despite being an inferior singer.

Nice try, but I think your logic doesn't quite work:

If Lance and Christina had become an item, all the world would have known that Lance had to settle for "femme fatale" number two.

And when the supermarket tabloids whooped it up about this state of affairs -- as you KNOW they would have done -- the blow to Lance's ego would probably have been even more severe. He obviously was smart enough to avoid that trap!

Besides, Christina never had even an ounce of the natural Southern charm that Britney used to possess. I can't see how a good ole Mississippi boy like Lance could ever fall for a New York showbiz PR creation like Christina, with her highly contrived sexiness.
