KUTV) SOUTH JORDAN A former high school teacher accused of having sex with a student was severely beaten inside her home.
Thirty-year-old Melinda Lee Deluca told police she came home Friday afternoon and was alone when she was jumped from behind. Police said she was beaten so badly that she was flown by medical helicopter to the hospital from her home in South Jordan.
Deluca was recently accused of having sex with one of her students at Copper Hills High School in West Jordan. Police believe the assault could be related to the charges.
It does appear that this is related to the incident in West Jordan with her teaching position at Copper Hills High School," said Lt. Matt Evans with the South Jordan Police Department. "It doesn't appear to be a random event.
"I hope they find out who did it and I hope they put them away. Underage or not nobody deserves anything like this, said one neighbor who didnt want to be identified.
Police are not saying wether the two suspects were men or teenage boys.
Your comments hit the bullseye. And not just for this particular type of crime.
Everyone likes to crow about "all teenage boys would give their eyeteeth to be introduced to sex by a woman twice their age". Sex is not just for recreation. Actions like this teach boys - who grow up to become men - how to use and exploit women sexually, that commitment and lifelong relationships mean squat.
Sex without love and commitment is bestial behavior. It hardens the heart, and teaches people to see other human beings as meat to be used and tossed away like refuse when they're done.
It demeans all individuals involved, it increases the crime of abortion, it breaks up marriages, and eventually ruins society - witness the numbers of feral humans, bred in irresponsibility, raised by single mothers with a series of "boyfriends" hanging around.
Training boys to view sex as casual recreation that has nothing to do with marriage and lifelong fidelity is extremely destructive. Those of you touting the "Playboy philosophy" should think deeply about this.
Every religion in the world states that sex is for marriage. There are many reasons why deviating from this law is destructive. Think of "Brave New World". Illicit meaningless sex was mandated; commitment and fidelity were considered mental illness and criminal.
Here on FR you will find no end of people who will tell you that men and women are totally different, that women don't belong in combat, that mothers of young children really ought to stay home if they can, etc.
And then they will tell you with a straight face that a female teacher who gets busy with a teenage boy is EXACTLY THE SAME as a male teacher with a girl.
Sorry, I ain't buying it. I never had a teacher like that, but I would have liked to, and so would the vast majority of boys. Even some of those who now cluck and wag fingers at you and me for speaking the truth.

"Is this a simple case of the "guilty dog barking first"?
Or are you that secure in your own masculinity?
It figures that all the fragile psyches would creep out of the woodwork on word of zero tolerance for insane practices.
Speak that we may know you."
"...So according to your line of thought, a homosexual male teacher can seduce a young boy and its not that bad..."
Where did I ever promote that notion? You know darn well I'm saying that a male teacher having sex with a teenaged female student is much more harmful than a female teacher having sex with a teenaged male student. The simple fact-of-the-matter is that a teenaged boy would unlikely have permanent negative issues related to those early sexual encounters.
The homosexuality thing brings the whole "overpowering and domination" component into play. That is clearly harmful.

PITA-Pain In The A$$
Right , righteous and admirable rage at the perpetrators and those lame brains who would dare defend or justify coddling the insane types who grievously harm our children.
Thank you for your articulate position on these issues.
You represent the will of the heartland of America.
Forcible sex?
The boy was 16?
Hard to believe.

This minor is reportedly physically and likely mentally challenged, requiring sign language and special education. He was also allegededly plied with alchohol and drugs by this "Saintly " teacher.
Your commentary here borders on diabolical and irresponsible if you deliberately choose to ignore these circumstances.

When were you named the study period monitor?
It is *you* who should read more carefully.
At no point did I say or imply that I condoned what she did. It is interesting you read that into my comment.
All of a sudden I'm the "monitor" because you engaged the jaw bone ahead of the "think" bone?
Not.
Thank you for your dose of sanity. Happy 4th!
Dark,
I completely agree with what you've said and it is consistent with my experience. However, what you're missing is the authority aspect. Males who are seeking counseling as well as HS males are rarely motivated to have sex because the woman is exercising her authority over them. They're (and me) just horn dogs. There are 2 HS teachers that, had they approached me, I'd still be smiling 30 years later!,-} Didn't happen tho'.
Girls, however, attach an emotional aspect. And the male teacher/coach/therapist plays on the authority/counselor/leader of the situation. Girls are rarely (although sometimes) motivated by sex, unlike the boys. Therefore, they are much more vulnerable and the abuse is much worse. I could go on, but my pizza just arrived!!! But Dark, note that you are right, but it's the abuse of authority that is the main theme, I would think. Have a good 4th!
I repeat once again: I ONLY addressed the attitudinal impact on boys/men in this situation. I specifically mentioned more than once that I was NOT talking about the ethical or moral view of it; I added to make it clearer that I would stop any such interaction happening that I knew about if it were happening to my kid, or a kid I knew.
Bringing in the whole power-figure aspect is beside the point in this specific discussion. People--men or women--who are authority figures shouldn't be abusing that trust, period.
Umm, with all due respect and you claim insight in the matter????, everything about the issue is about "authority". And yes, that authority shouldn't be abused and it rarely is in a female teacher, male student situation. It's the most important factor, and you dismiss it why???
When did I dismiss it? I merely chose to speak about one aspect of this which isn't getting a hearing here.
If we were discussing crime and I posted about robbery, would you think I was 'dismissing' murder? Nope; merely focusing on one aspect of a larger story.
This wasn't justice, it was vigilanteism.
Vigilantes are anarchists and as far to the left as one can get.
You have been at FR for a long time and I appreciate your anger at the situation, but a just society is not one in which individuals meet out punishment for those who break the law.
Whaaaat? Who says there must be an "overpowering and domination component" inherent in a man-boy liaison? And why wouldn't that come into play in a situation like this one? As if a teenage boy is calling the shots with his hot blonde teacher!
I would call that "psychobabble" if I thought you were qualified to issue it. You're clearly not. You're just another one of those guys who gets vicarious thrills out of the notion of a foxy lady socking it to you when your hormones first kicked in and you discovered what it was for.
Do I blame you for feeling that way? As a fellow heterosexual male, no...not at first. But as I say every time one of these bimbonic bombshell teachers humps a boy who does all of his thinking with his smaller head, "I used to fantasize about being with my better looking teachers. Then I grew up."
And for all you guys out there who whine schtuff like "You're being PC!" when we say short-eyed women shouldn't be given a free ride because, you say, the guys can't be scarred like the girls can; I have a challenge for you. Would you be so bold as to codify your endorsement of society's double standard?
Yeah, that's right. Just the way that the likes of John Murtha and Max Cleland spew their hate at so-called "chickenhawk" Republicans but wouldn't ever dare propose that serving in the military should be made a prerequisite to serving in Congress, none of you want to say, "I step forward and say that there should be lesser punishment for female pedophiles because we all know boys wanna get laid."
Agreed. The male teacher and the female teacher both enjoy the same position of power and influence. Yet we know that the male teacher, homosexual or heterosexual, will be treated astoundingly different. Of course that is the norm in society as a whole, not just school. IMHO
I agree, did you read the last two paragraphs in my comment? My concern is that vigilantism is the outcome of bad law, and the outcome of that is anarchy. Did you read this:
Twisted laws protect the guilty and abandon the innocent. And vigilantism is the outcome. The law must be reformed and liberal judges thrown out or society will descends into anarchy.
