The Elite Eight!! The quarterfinal round of the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany gets underway Friday with a pair of highly-anticipated matches. The hosts kick things off against Argentina in Berlin (10:55 a.m. ET; ESPN). Italy will face Ukraine in the day's second game (2:55 p.m.; ESPN2).
Two of the quarterfinals are rematches of championship games: Brazil-France (1998) and Germany-Argentina (1986 and 1990).

I believe that either of both teams will be the new world champion - or maybe Brazil. Advantage Germany, not only because of the "12th man", but also because we´ve played the last four times very well, and Argentina disappointed against Mexico (and maybe even against Holland).
It will be really, really tough and exciting, because no team simply stands at its defense line, both are attacking.

True. However, they looked much better than England when playing the same teams (i.e. Ecuador and Sweden). If you look at the eight teams still in the tournament, Germany would certainly deserve a spot in the semi-finals.
To bad only one of either Germany or Argentina can advance.
True, Argentina and Brazil are still the favorites to win the cup, but I would rank Germany at least on par with Portugal (that is, if the team is complete) or France (judging by the impression they made during the last game, not the less-than-perfect games before that) and slightly above England, Ukraine (Wtf are they doing in a quarter final?) and the Italian team, which so far has played atrocious football.

By the way, I read your comment that says you think you still have plenty of beer. I just don't think Germany would ever admit being low on beer (it's like admitting that the oceans are low on water). And I've heard that the English fans have just warmed up.
