New verse:

Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |

Homer's sticking to, and sometimes pawing at and slobbering on, anyone he can find comfort in, with the firecrackers going off this afternoon :~\
Bless his heart...
Is everyone still there? If so, tell 'em I said HI! If not, tell 'em the next time you see 'em!
Evidently my dad (!!!) bought a big box of rockets on the reservation. Every ten years, my dad does something that surprises me :~)
Maybe the insta-grandkids that inspired him?
:-)
Good night, sis. See you in the morning. Later than usual, because the Main Squeeze will be home, but he's planning on taking the jedis out to do something so I can work on my auctions, so I'll be here eventually.
The bigger bummer about Homer is that whining, pawing and slobbering weren't enough, he started throwing up, so I'm not even sure if he got his full dose of pills into his system, or threw them up. And since I don't really know how much he got in him, I'm reluctant to give him more. It's just about dark here and he's still awake. rats.
Hey...give him some Benadryl. I'm not kidding...it's a great sedative for dogs.
I've heard that... Hopefully he got enough... it's starting here, and while he's still awake, he's catatonic.
It's used a lot of times for skin rashes and stuff on pooches, but in humans it also is used as a sleep aid. Tylenol Simply Sleep is just the same thing as Benadryl.
I take it nearly ever single night to ward off my demons, anywhere from 25mg to 50mg, depending on if I had cholesterol medicine. (I naturally don't need as much Benadryl if I took my cholesterol medicine, doncha know.)
Catatonic as in almost knocked out or as in paralyzed with fear?
Poor beast...
You can run a search and estimate a dosage rate for him for future reference...should be on the net.
I used to give it to Zulu when she ate bees and got stung, which she did a lot :~)
But I'd give like 4 of them (per vets instruction) to a 20 pound dog. Vet said that dogs process it differently than we do, and the dosage has to be higher to do any good. With that in mind, I didn't know how to dose a 90 pound dog... he's fine now, luckily. Just had some big stuff go off, no reaction :~)
No catatonic as in really stoned - he's good :~)
Well, excellent.
I took my Benadryl about a half hour ago and now my eyes are starting to blur...so I guess now that Homer and I are properly dosed...I'll go.
Night!
LOL! Looks like Homer was standing guard for Ruthy and Aly! Or maybe he was just leaning up against Ruthy. ;o)
Wow! The girls are just getting so big! Becky look right at home up there on Bay!
You shoulda got a picture of that. Stoned Homer!
He's such a pansy. Gidget's outside barking at all the fireworks... but she's having a great time.
A few years ago I would have hoped to be in Boston today for the 30th anniversary of the Bicentennial concert (first use, IIRC, of Tschaikovskiy's 1812 Overture as American patriotic/celebratory music, and beginning the tradition of Boston Pops public concerts on the Esplanade-- perhaps someone would correct me).
I watched that one on TV and noted that my parents felt that it was the first time Americans seemed pleased to embrace their national identity since about 1969. Of course we still had to live through the Carter administration...but it seems to me that a sort of national rebirth took place between the Boston Pops concert of July 4, 1976 and the US Olympic hockey victory on February 22, 1980.
While there have been setbacks and growth spurts since, we have not yet sunk to the defeatist depths that seemed so pervasive from the "Tet Offensive" of 1968 (historically more analogous to the "Battle of the Bulge" almost exactly 24 years earlier) until '76.
So, I wanted to go to Boston this year. Today, I'm glad to be here, though I could wish for some who aren't to be here with me; my girlfriend, f'r'instance.
Have a safe and happy 4th, y'all. Today is about Us.
Morning OT - Well, howboutthat, we got our rain, now we neeed a stat rep on the gutters and downspouts. I'll bet there is more than one family with a wood roof that is breathing a sigh of relief.
Morning Hair; great pictures of thegirls and Bay. Looks like the 'trail ride' was a success. The improv treeswing was a great idea. Thanks for posting them.
Good morning - the swings were a good idea. The girls inspired it, really, they were trying to swing from just the lines, and first we just hooked a horse halter to it they could get a leg through, but that wasn't very comfortable, so better ideas were found :~)
