The Hobbit Hole XXX - Then world behind and home ahead...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 06/28/2006 10:14:11 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Then world behind and home ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Forgot to mention that we're planning to grill a turkey on Monday, if you want to come over to partake of that.

Morning - "Inside Man" was very good, we enjoyed it as well. We also saw 'Firewall'. That's a good rental, too.

Heh, ours were open too but it didn't rain long enough or hard enough to cause any concern. You've received quite a bit more rain that us this season, our turn. :-)

Well, the maize maze could use some of that rain you keep talking about :~)

Dogs are sleeping in, but feeling good. Gidget got some extra Rimadyl so she's not as stoved up as she might have otherwise been after such a jaunt.

Rainwater is better.

Hmmm.... Well, you could spray it straight up over the pots, make rain that way :~)

It's still got chlorine and stuff in it.

That's a lot of bottled water. It would be easier if it just rained.

Well, the quarter inch we got probably would have helped but it wouldn't take much rain to turn the maize maze into the mud maize maze. :-)

Indeed it is, we collect rainwater and store it; also use the dehumidifier water and air conditioner water. Although the last two aren't 'free' like the rainwater, it all helps.

Well, I'm on a well, so our water isn't chlorinated... I guess it's just stored rainwater :~)

Well, after what we went through yesterday, we decided mud is better than dust... at least you don't have to breathe the mud!

Sure, I'd be happy to partake. ;-)
