Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Then world behind and home ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Interesting trivia :~)
There's a special feature on the disk about the making of it that we watched yesterday afternoon... it covers what became of the bushman who became quite a local celebrity, even though he returned to his rather primitive village. We'll que it up sometime when you're here if you remind us... or you can borrow it.

Sure, I'd like to see it. I was kinda wondering about that...obviously they didn't just find a bushman in Hollywood to play the part...
To: RosieCotton
He was a real live bushman :~)

Exactly. Heh...
The three of them in one movie is almost a bit too much, though...
To: RosieCotton
Useless trivia. ;-)IMDB is great for that.

Hey girl! I'm fixing to make a pot of coffee. Wanna join me in a cuppa? I found some delish Starbuck grinds at the store on sale. It's their Cafe Verona, and it's the only flavor of theirs that I've liked. All the others seem too over-roasted for me.
I'm gonna get a cup and head up to finish the painting I started last weekend. The laundry room has been full of dead washer since Monday, so I couldn't get through to the kids' bathroom to finish up. We got a new washer and SirKit installed it Tuesday night, so I've about caught up on the wash that had piled up.

Hey there! Do you have any plans for Saturday?
We're thinking of coming down to spend the day and heading over to the beach house later that evening.

What time do you plan on going? I want to make sure we don't hold you up.
Oh, and Tricksey's evil side has appeared at last. She's chewed a door stop, a carpet, several of the girls' toys, etc.
I'm going to buy a bunch more chewies and leave them ~everywhere~ in the hopes she'll choose those over our stuff. :-/

It's normal for her to want to chew stuff at her age. You kindof have to catch her doing it and substitute a good chew toy while doing a lot of shouting and disapproving of her chewing the bad thing.
I would recommend a different approach though... Find ONE toy she likes and encouraging her to only mouth that ("But don't wreck it!") is a better way to go. Leaving lots and lots of chew toys around mixed in with toys that are supposed to be off limits is just confusing.
No time is set aside, we'd only go if you want to go. The earlier we go the cooler it'll be.

She's still a puppy, right? Pretty much?
Cisco's mostly good about sticking to his own toys, but he's wrecked a few stuffed animals. Grrr...
And if I leave him shut up in the house, he'll chew anything and everything, or did last time I tried it. *sigh*

We've got toys for her but she's slowly moved them all outside. :-/
I'll pick one that she likes best and keep it inside at night and when we're out since that's when she does her dirty work.

You might give her a particular busy toy that she likes and only gets when you leave, if leaving her alone brings on the destructive part.
With Gidget I used a plastic pop bottle that I filled with dog food... as she played with it and tossed it around, little bits of food came out and getting the food to come out was the game. Use a large kibble that barely fits out the hole. That's all I fed her in the morning, so she was hungry and it kept her entertained much of the day, she'd sometimes destroy the bottle in one day, sometimes not. I'd save them up as I used them so I had a supply.
Others put peanut butter inside Kongs, but that sounds messy inside, I think you'd end up with peanut butter grease stains on stuff. The dog food is at least dry.
