The Hobbit Hole XXX - Then world behind and home ahead...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 06/28/2006 10:14:11 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Then world behind and home ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

And it's supposed to cool off this week. I should start some lettuce and spinach.

Oh, my. Prayers that the doctors are wrong. And for his family regardless.

Sorry to hear about Nana last night, it's always something more, isn't it?

Back from gypsygirl's walk, lots of new sniffs following the rain. Plenty drippy out there.

I'm still being lazy....sippin' coffee and watching decorating shows. Got a load of laundry started, though.

Looks like we've got some more rain coming....

Hey there!

Sorry we didn't get back to you yesterday, chica. We spent the better part of the day shopping for back-to-school stuff.

When we got home, we parked in front of the TV downstairs and didn't get back up until it was time for bed. :-/

I've got to get this house cleaned today and Tricksey needs a bath in the worst way! Phew!

She just has the natural aroma of doggie-who-played-outside-alot. *laughing*

I was checking around online to see if maybe I could find some info on her background and came across this petfinder page from Three Rivers Rescue (where she was transferred from).

She was only 4 months old at the time, but it's definitely her. Even that cheesy name followed her around. I guess whatever happened to her between these photos and now will remain a mystery.

Just look at her sweet face. How on earth she wasn't snatched up before we got her is another mystery.

Huh - That's interesting.... why would they still have the page up? Maybe she was named Essence because she gets ripe so fast :~)

Prayers for all of them.

It was listed under the "adopted" section of their webpage.

I'm not sure if that means she was adopted then, and brought back and subsequently shipped over to Bellevue Humane Society - or if the "adopted" means that the Bellevue Humane Society notified them she was adopted.

The latter doesn't seem likely because she's 5 months older now than when that pic was taken. My guess is that she was adopted and brought back. Much to our benefit. :-D

And she definitely has an "Essence" to her now. :-/

I wanted to show you, because it came up in conversation about Tricksey last weekend, Lisa's AKC Blue Merle Collie.

Are blue merles the ones that have trouble with deafness? Or is that even collies?

It's a very striking coloring, in any case.

I don't know if there's a tendencey for deafness. He's not deaf.

What a cool looking dog. I bet he gets hair all over the furniture.

She has two other collies and a lab mix last time I counted, I don't think you could blame the hair on him without DNA testing :~)

Very nice pictures, sometimes a dog needs to a place or two before they find their home. Tricksey has found her home with your family just like Gypsy did with us, just meant to happen the way it did. OB & LSA

Thanks for the continued prayers folks. David's wife and son were at church this morning but I didn't get a chance to speak with them.

Nana continues to be weak. Says she wants "whole milk and cream of wheat" to settle her stomach. We don't get it.

She says "you just know what you need." Wife pointed out that yesterday she thought she ~needed~ a scrambled egg for lunch and then sat at the table all afternoon until she started throwing up 3 hrs. later.

She didn't appreciate that.

But wife was pretty blunt with her telling that if she couldn't hold anything down, she should stop the pain meds.

She didn't appreciate that either.

Off to King's Dominion.
