Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Then world behind and home ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Nice!
See, Steve likes flowers...I don't see the point in planting flowers, as you can't eat them. Besides, veggie flowers are really extremely pretty!

The pictures are GREAT!
Did Cartman do the catnip? I had a cat years ago and it would just go all nuts on the stuff...seemed to hallucinate, eyes would dilate, the whole nine yards. Too funny!

Hi everyone, still going thru old e-mail, 4500 to go, finishing my coffee, and listening to coverage of the VaTech shootings. I did some graduate study at Tech in 1978-1979. Lovely area around Blacksburg. Even had some tests at the hospital the perp holed up in.

The flowers attract pollinators for one thing.
And marigolds repel pests....except for bunnies. The bunnies kept nipping off my marigold buds.

Too late, I'm in Eastern time.

Well, this is true. And I do like marigolds. Some folks don't like the way they smell, but I do.

I'm not gonna worry, cause there's nothing I can do about it anyway. We'll likely drive in and park in Central Parking. That way SirKit doesn't have drag out so early on Thursday to take us, or break off what he's doing to come back and pick me up Friday night.

Heh. I've got some flowering tobacco. It's a wonder the bunnies haven't learned how to wad a chaw.

Yes, Blacksburg is in Appalachia, and the perps are locals, seem to fit the stereotype.

. I did some graduate study at Tech in 1978-1979. Do tell. I grew up near Tech and did summer school there in '79.

Yes, Blacksburg is in Appalachia, and the perps are locals, seem to fit the stereotype. I resent that.
Even if it is true...

"Hmmm. I like biscuits. Hmmm."
What a goober, goofing around in his mug shots. I guess he just thinks he's the coolest guy in the county, and that the 'Barney Fifes' can't hold him forever. Here's hoping he'll be disabused of that notion right quick!

By the way, have either of y'all ever seen the movie, Tomorrow, starring a much younger Robert Duval? I swear Billy Bob Thornton patterned his speech in Sling Blade after Duval's character, Jackson Fentry from that movie. Of course Duval also played Billy Bob's DAD in Sling Blade!
