The Hobbit Hole XXX - Then world behind and home ahead...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 06/28/2006 10:14:11 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Then world behind and home ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

We started a series called Exploring Creation with Botany. It's by J Fulbright. It's an Apologia Educational Ministries, Inc. Curriculum Support. I love it, but am not sure if they have anything with dinosaurs. apologia.com or #765-608-3280.

We'll make a fortune in oil.

*If* oil is really dino-juice. Thoughts to the contrary are gaining momentum - outside the creation science arena, even.

Yesterday on my bike ride I came up on what at first looked like a squirrel trotting down the bike path. Wait, trotting? It's gait was all wrong for a squirrel. Sure enough, it was what appeared to be a ferret with a dead chipmunk carried proudly in it's mouth. Not surprising as I think we have really stupid chipmunks around here. Earlier yesterday when I was catching some sun and reading a book one scampered directly under the lounger (felt like it ran into the leg of it) looked around and then trotted off. I probably could have reached down and grabbed it.

Ferrets are ruthless. We saw one here once, attacking a bunny that was three times it's size. It was desperately ruthless, and had no fear of us, or Gidget on the other side of the fence. It only cared about that rabbit.

They aren't native here... couldn't find a native form of weasel that looked like it. I think he must have been a former pet.

Aye. How many dinos does it take to press down into hundreds of billions of barrels of oil? I have not done the math but it seems like a lot. And why does it form along with salt domes and such and runs in deposits that go through layers of rock and not so much WITH the layers? As far as I know there is no evidence that it IS from dead critters or plants. Other than extrapolation because coal has evidence of having been plant matter.

Not really! I let it go. Garter snakes are good, they eat bugses.

We don't have that many here. The place in Rochester I lived in was LOADED with snakes. Everywhere. I couldn't mow without chopping up snakes. It was really gross, I'd try to wait for them to get out of the way if I saw them in time.

There, I let the dogs and cats kill as many snakes as they could eat.

This MIGHT have been a weasel. I am not really sure. I was doing about 20 and did not get a clear look. It was the color of a squirrel but had that long body and neck. First time I have ever seen one in the wild.
