The Hobbit Hole XXX - Then world behind and home ahead...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 06/28/2006 10:14:11 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Then world behind and home ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'm hoping to work on my pre-NaNo story and start writing that next week... after the fireworks.

I've been having a ball doing NaNo-prep. I'm really excited for 1 Nov!

It's ok. It's not you. It's a persistent issue. :)

I don't need no steenkin' NaNo prep.

Well...at least, that's the way I always function.

I'm kinda thinking of finally writing the story I use to mentally entertain myself while waiting / driving / falling asleep. But it's been morphing since I was about ten, so I'd have to pick a period *and* I'm not sure I want set in stone on paper, though it'd likely be easy to write.

Got thirty PCs and the printers and cables and monitors and what-not that go with 'em all loaded up on carts. I'm feelthy. Dust bunnies are running amok everywhere...

LOL, I'm going overboard with NaNo-prep. I've got field guides, maps, bio's, character arcs, what kind of equipment they'll bring on the trip, etc. I even know what council the Scouts will be from - the only thing lacking is some research on Richmond. And I know a certain dwarf that can help with that.

Hardly a PITA neighbor, hair, sounded reasonable to us. Of course, counter battery fire would also be a reasonable response imho.

Yup, paid $5.48 a box for Remington 9mm for the last 10 boxes I bought.

Well right now I have this idea about a hunter garbed in a Wagnerian outfit complete with sword and magic helmet yelling "Kiww the Wabbit!"

I could go with 20 acres... wooded ones, probably... little hills and streams...

At least this weekend hopefully you'll have better things to do than shoot stuff ;-)

Wow, that is overboard. My 'research' consists of figuring out the events of the past twenty years before my story... actually I had a huge breakthrough last week when all of a sudden I found the plot that my story had been missing. Now it forms twenty+ years of coherent story, dynastic families and long-standing feuds and all.
