Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Then world behind and home ahead
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

What's math got to do with it, got to do with it?
If I wuz smarter, I'd come up with lyrics for the rest of it...but it's a Friday evening and I don't feel like thinking that hard...
To: no one in particular
Well...my three month probationary period at work is officially over, so I'm in permanently. Plus got a raise.
Not a bad deal!
I still can't figure out how I lucked into the job, being as how I'm doing an awful lot of learning as I go on stuff that other folks might have known right off, but I ain't complaining...
To: RosieCotton
Hey, congratulations! You deserve it! I'm so glad things worked out there...

Is this the bed you guys were talking about at WalMart?
Mainstays Queen Size Elevated Air Mattress with Built-In Pump - Wal-Mart
Because I don't think it'll work for me... I think if just one animal jumps on it it'd be toast. And a Queen really wouldn't fit in our spare room anyway. But I'd buy one for you on my way up Sunday if I could have the full bed to bring back. Could you get by on it then till your real bed arrives?

Did you mention that you'd been buying TEs all week?

Unfortunately, the bookcase looks wonky - so I've stopped before I end up with a trapezoid-lookin' thing. Wonky furniture? This will fix it:

Actually, this is a new Hobbit Hole "unadvertised special". It's the Stanley "FUBAR" wrecking hammer. 72 ounces of steel (as opposed to the mere 20 ounces of the Camillus BK3 next to it). The thing is VEY large and heavy.
I volunteered evaluation copies to MAJ Bart K, Gunny D., and Mr. S., the EOD guy. All three were enthusiastic. Here's the email I just got back from Mr. S.:
Thank you! We would love to have one for evaluation.
I will probably give it to the MPs who escort us to our calls outside the wire. One of their vehicles would probably be the one using it to peel the door off of a HMMWV in distress or knock a hole through some guy's house. Those MPs are definitely my "heroes" and they keep us going.
You folks at the Hobbit Hole have our undying gratitude. A lot of folks claim to "support the troops", but you guys have turned your words into action; exactly what the President asked of Americans last year.
Again, thank you. Semper Fi,
Bryan S.

That's a neat lookin' tool, Rick! The FUBAR retails for $40 (chump change in today's world of titanium hammers), so it's cheaper than the Camillus BK3. It's brand new on the market, and I just bought three of the last four in stock at Amazon. After using the link at the Hobbit Hole.
Now go forth and wreck things.
