This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
According to research, yep - he will always throw color. If he keeps his looks and at least part of his mind, he'll be worth some money. Right now, he's 18mos old and just discovered he's a male.
Man, is that the perfect name, or what?
The thing that bothers me is that his eyes say he needs a loving home. Drat. Hope someone else already took him.
That looks like a nice horse. Why on earth are they giving him away?
:) Thanks.
He is pretty
If a mare is in that bad of shape she probably wouldn't even come into season.

I don't know. Bob is going to call and find out. Looks like he's down by Sacramento. About two hours from here.
Well, it is counter to your current horse-reduction goal to take him in..... And his chances of finding a good home are high, unless he isn't sound.
Heh... so you did tell Bob :~)
I didn't know you were that close to Sac. My grandparents lived a couple of hours north of there, in a small town called Paradise. They both died recently, of old age.
Speaking of nice babies, how's that loud filly of yours doing?
WEll good luck with your offer, hope it works out:)
It's too bad there are so many neglected horses:(, and even from people you would think would know better.
It will be interesting to see how they work for you.

I had trouble telling Prez had lost weight, I think he looks good in all the pictures.
Tell your family we are mad at them for not letting you get pictures of the first ride:) Who got on, your DIL?
Becky
It is really, really counter to my current plans to take on another horse. Hopefully, he's found a good home already.
Rose might disagree:') Where is she anyway?
By the way, Becky, it's finally raining off and on. We had a good rain last night, a little rain today and more in the forecast. Guess all those prayers worked. I've been getting prayer chain emails, asking to pray for rain.
I think Rose moved off to another site, with home schoolers and people that live off their farms. Wish she would come back and fill us in on the latest.
Sacramento is really just over the hill from me but does work out to about two hours drive time. Paradise is in a beautiful area.
I got a FRMail from her just this week asking to be taken off the Saddle Club who's who page and the ping list, which we did (though we haven't done the other updates yet that need done)
She said she was no longer hanging around FR much, that they were doing well in their new place, and that they were now hanging out on Christian homeschooling and organic farming sites more than here.
