This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Well, I mowed our perimeter, and I set some water out for the bunnies... it's drying up out there, maybe I won't need to mow that part again this summer.
Boy, that's a long haul! At least you won't have to worry about the heat at that time of year, but hopefully you won't get caught in a snowstorm either.
bunnies??
Our wild bunnies :~D I put water out for the birds and bunnies in the summer when water's hard to find :~)
If the person can get the bank to loan him the money Mack's already sold mine. He sold the boat too, now just 2 more bikes, the RV, and our dump truck, and we'll have everything we want to sell sold:)
Becky
Did you get my email about that horse I saw this morning?
Thanks.
Oh, OK. I thought maybe you'd acquired some new pets I didn't know about. At my BIL's place, where most of my horses are, there are these HUGE wild rabbits that just seem to come out of the woodwork in the evenings. One of them even attacked their cat a while back. The cat was laying there in the yard, minding her own business when there was a commotion out in the woods and this rabbit came flying out of the woods and ran past the cat and on out in the pasture. And while the cat was still deciding what to think about the first rabbit, another rabbit comes tearing out of the woods and runs OVER the cat. And by ran over, I mean like tackled, like rolled-her-up-in-a-ball kinda ran over. And he kept on going, chasing after the first rabbit. The poor cat didn't know WHAT had happened. After she got up, she just stood there for a minute, kinda shaking her head and blinking, like "What the Hell was THAT?!" LOL! I think she was a little embarassed too. All I could figure was that the first rabbit was a female and the 2nd one was a male chasing her with LUV on his mind and he took out the cat just in case it happened to be a rival rabbit. It sure was funny though. Ninja Bunnies!
Good Deal! I'm sure the extra cash will be nice to have to help pay for your trip.
Yes I did. What IS it with people starving horses these days?!
Our bunnies play run and chase games too... I tend to think it's somewhat competitive, or sexual, or both. :~) Last night there were two who were out hop-hop-hopping around, and they suddenly charged at each other, and when they met, both LEAPED 2-3 feet straight up in the air! -Then they landed and ran away... ~shrugs~ I don't know what that was, they surprised each other :~)
And no... not pets, I just have a thing for the wandering critters :~)
Ruh roh - you guys have another sad case?
I don't know, I think this one may have been resuced by these people cause their horses always look well fed. This poor guy ws in real bad shape, face was all sunken in and you could count EVERY rib bone. I thought he was dead when I drove by. Hve been thinking about him/her all day anxious to see if he/she is still there when I drive by.
I saw a skeletal horse this morning in a pasture on my way to work. I don't know where it came from or why he/she was like that it is a big Quarter Horse farm by me and their horses are always well fed and maintained. May have been a rescue or something. Going to look for him/her this afternoon. I hope it will be OK. Looked the worse I have EVER seen.
Interesting! I guess I've just never thought of rabbits as being aggressive/physical with each other. To me, bunnies were always just cute little fuzzies that kinda just mosey around the yard, but I've never been around very many to speak of either.
I saw something else I'd never seen before the other afternoon when I was driving to the barn. At first I thought it was 3 small brown dogs running down the side of the road, but on closer inspection, it was 3 rabbits running in single file down the side of the road, in broad daylight. They dashed into the underbrush as I passed, but it was really strange! Who knows what they were up to.
Hey, check out this horse. I think he's standing at the farm on the highway that I hold you about. Apparently the name of the place is Fort Hampton Farms...

I sure hate to see that... Hopefully it's already ~been~ rescued.
