The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

There was a fish, bigger than the ducks swimming around. I never could get a pic though. People thought he had the markings of a carp but he had a mouth and whiskers , like a catfish.

Joshua got his ride. I heard him asking, "is this the only horse you have?" Poor ole Betty. Her trot just wasn't fast enough for him, I guess! He asked if they could run "next time" He was ginning ear to ear and laughing every time he w ould give cues and she followed. He told me afterwards that this was easy, but his next lesson would be harder because he would be riding "english" :')</p>

Kid rides are exhausting, I know :)

Who's the horse you've got them on CindyDawg?

Good morning everyone... Woke up this morning to something strange... Cyn was running 'balls to the wall' in the pasture.... by herself, Bay and the pony couldn't care less. I'm assuming it's wildlife related, a deer or a coyote got her all het up, the weird part was that she was the only one.

...You had quite a group. Great pictures. Were they all gaited horses?

Yes they were, and some nice ones too. We don't often have non-gaited horses ride with us because the pace just isn't quite right for them. It's faster then they can comfortably walk, but not fast enough for a canter so they either have to trot all day, which ain't fun, or lag behind then catch up over and over again.

Good Morning. Happy first day of August. Where is the summer going? Washed away maybe. Now we are cooking. Two more days of 90's, then suppose to get cooler.

Nice pictures, Frog. Gosh, I hate those darn bees. We used to just take off thru the underbrush, to knock them off.

Cindy, looks like the kids had a great time. You really get enjoyment out of watching them.

Awww, he's a cute little bugger sitting up there on that big ol' hoss! At first I thought he was on there all by himself and about had a heart attack, then I thought "Dang, he must be a pretty good rider!", but then I saw the other pair of legs on the off side. LOL!

Great pics of the kids having fun. I love the last one. How else would you end a busy fun day like that but snoozing on the way home?

Good morning...I'm back, only made it about 1 1/2 hours, it's already just too hot. It was over 80 when I started at 8:10:( But we did climb a few good hills.

Hair, that is weird that only Cyn was going like that. Maybe she had a fly or something after her...

Sorry it's so hot... I think it's hot lots of places today, but this week anyway... not here.

It's darn near chilly out... 50 degrees.

Nice:)

I've been lurking on the Natrc site, and saw this.

"Everybody is invited to the wedding on horseback of Kalinda and
Shane at the Robbers Route Competitive trail ride Saturday
night, the 9th of September. Time to be announced at the ride –
probably following the briefing Saturday evening, (which Brenda says
will be at 5:00 p.m.) and prior to the pot luck supper. Shirley
Parker is to perform the ceremony. Everybody is invited to attend
this joyous occasion. Kalinda and Shane already have everything needed
to set up housekeeping. There will be a money tree set up at the ride
for those that want to give a gift. "

Might be interesting:) I've known this girl since I first started doing CTR's. I met her fiance at Robbers Cave ride last year. He's a farrier. Seemed like a really nice kid.

If they both want to get married ~at~ a CTR, it sounds like a very good match!
