This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Oh - are you quoting someone else then at 1454?
Ah - I'm with ya now :~)
Yes. Sorry about that. www.timwoolleyracing.com/
Well thanks for bringing us the updates!
There are a lot of trails around the thing:).

There are. We've talked about, but never bothered to follow through on driving up to that "Kalama Horse Camp" and checking it out, as well as timing how long of a haul it would be to get there. Bob's been there, said the road leading in to it was something of a challenge for a truck pulling horses.
I think we'll have to wait till I have a younger horse and a younger truck :~D
When I broke my hand, it hurt when the bones started to knit. Not real bad, but "ouchy".
Pretty good looking old man for a 23yr old.
PS: We love pictures :)
Sounds like JP is going to be a race car driver, not a rodeo rider :)
As far as I know it's real. Must be really layed back horses.
Great pics! I'm glad your camera lense is holding up so far. Did you manage to get a camera borrowed for your trip?
Nice looking horse and pooch there! By having him that long I'll bet you know the old guy better than you know most people. He looks like a real sweetheart. Welcome to the thread! We'll look forward to your dropping back in when you've got time to chat and have more pictures.
My Great Nephews and Great Niece are all that way too. If something's got a motor and somebody is riding it, they're gonna be on it too.
I remember meeting that woman a few years ago. We had the annual santa pictures for all animals at the Animal Birth Control clinic. This woman and her family showed up with a minature baby donkey. It made some really cute pictures.
I'm going to borrow my sons. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

That could be. I just read on the Bloodhorse.com web site that they are keeoing a close eye on him, and the vet said that it is really remarkable that he has been infection free for this long. I am positive that our prayers have helped that.
I feed strategy (not very much one level scoop a day) and orchard grass. But we went on a long ride last weekend and Kat is having a problem (really stiff). I'm gonna have our friend Nick pull her shoes off tonight, he put front shoes on her because we were riding so much. But if she starts doing better I have boots to put on her. But if not Mia's been doing really great, would that work for you??I replied: Gee - sorry about Kat. Mia would be fine, Tiff, I appreciate your generosity with her.
Where is she stiff? Have you given her any Bute?
Why are you pulling the shoes.... do you think it's related?
She replied: Ya no problem, I think I'm going to have to add some new stock to my pack. I really want to find a 6-8 yr old mule for packing and possibly riding. And I am looking for something new for Danny. Jess can still ride Kat I think. If you hear of anything not too outrageously expensive please let me know.
I replied back to her that if she wanted to Bute Kat for the next several days, I'd give her some tabs. I think though, she's decided Mia would be better, and I agree Mia would be just fine (Mia's the grey Arab you've seen in pictures)... The only reason I asked for Kat first was your QH preference, but if she's not up to it, Mia's a terrific horse, very easy going. She doesn't have the issues with Bay that Kat has :~) So either way, we'll be good to go.
I'd post Mia's picture again, but Snapfish is timing out.

Mia & Kat:
Isn't Strategy a pretty hot food to feed alone? I have used it to mix in with grain when trying to put weight on a horse (an Arab infact I was taking care of) I can imagine what mine would look like if I fed them strategy! I would not be able to get them in the trailer they would be so fat! LOL
Nice horses! You guys are so lucky.
