The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

They're not too hard to do! Who was it that was posting those hilarious pictures of Barbie dolls by a water garden? It was my laugh of the day.

That sounds very cute :~D

It would go with the garden I saw once that was an old ornate bed frame... turned into a 'flower bed' :~D

it has rained every day. Just enough to make things nasty. Today, we seem to be warming up though. Did you see my post about the bug invasion going on here?

Good Morning. I hope everyone had a nice Holiday. Around 9 pm last night, we had tornado warnings out. Thankfully, the worst of the storm went South East. My yard could not take anymore water at this time.

Alison won her first, first yesterday! Andy was acting a little squirrelly, so she rode another friend's horse in Western Pleasure when she won the first. She also rode him in Western Horsemanship and won a second. With Andy, she won a third in Showmanship. They didn't receive the rain we did at the show grounds, so I should have went. Driving through the storm to get there, is what I didn't want to do.

Sounds like a great show! Congrats to Alison.

We had more rain in PA. Flowers look great but am going to have to get a goat to eat my grass. Not sure it will ever dry out and get cut.

Poor Deuce is out of commission again! Two weeks ago he had the inflamed nerve. Recovered from that quickly but it appears his resistance was compromised by that whole episode and he developed an upper respiratory infection. Drugs are killing that pretty quickly but I feel bad for the poor guy.

I did see it. I should scroll back and see just what kind of bugs. Hope you get them under control.

It seems they just wait for rain and then come alive with a vengeance!

No, Buck is a gelding, but I really believe even if he were a stallion he would be as polite and gentle as he is now.

He was kept in a small lot for about a year and is now enjoying himself hugely on my 30 acres, after I get another one of these big projects done I will start riding every morning. In the meanimte he is just a joy to look at.

Oh my, congratulations to Alison. That's great, and a big confidence builder for her.

We sat out in the yard last night and watched the fireworks at Virginia City (about 15-20 miles away). We do that every year, no crowds, no noise, and a quiet glass of wine :)

Yeah, cooking a turkey in the traditional way in the summer would not be a smart thing:)

Did you survive the fireworks last night? There were sure a lot of big big ones going off around here.

Well, I'm taking Susie to the vet this morning...She's had some vague on again off again symptoms, has not seemed herself, for some time now. She has really really bad allergies, is always itchy, so it may just be that. But she has stopped jumping up/off on the bed and chairs with me, yesterday her tummy was making some really horrible noises, I gave a dose of peptobismol, and that seemed to help. But this morning she had a really nasty looking BM...and she's been eating a lot of grass...I'm wondering if she has ate something she shouldn't have and it's in her causing problems. None of these symptoms seem related, but I'm tired of worrying about her, and I don't want to be gone and it be something and it get really bad while I'm gone.

I also think dogs are telepathic:), and I'm wondering if she knows I'm leaving and she's fretting already:). I know that seems far fetched, but several dogs I've owned seems to pick up on things and know what's coming way ahead of when it happens.

Becky

We had more rain in PA.

We finally got rain! It rained good and hard for about 15 minutes, then slowed down to a slow steady rain for about an hour. I wanted to go out and dance in it I was so happy! Now maybe the grass will grow. We have not had to mow in 2 weeks, very unusual for here in Alabama.
