This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
We've probably already forgotten half of it :~)
We're done mowing for the day.... now watering and loungin' around for the afternoon.
That's kind of what I was thinking...I know we've already talked about some things like this that we should do, but for the life of me I can't remember them now:)
It's really hot here today. I've hardly been outside except to run to the grocery store this morning. Mack is in his chair sleeping, so it's very quiet:). I've been in the kitchen chopping vegetables for 4th of July taboli:). It's best when it's been fermenting for a few days. I made enough to sample it from now till then:)
Becky
Well, hopefully we'll remember enough - or at least think up new stuff on the fly :~)
It's 79 degrees now at the airport, don't think it's that hot here... maybe 72 in the shade. :~)
What is taboli?
What's Taboli?
You don't know what tabloi is?????:)
It's a Lebanese salad. Tomatoes, cucumbers, green onions, parsley, chopped up fine, mixed with cracked wheat, oil, lemon juice, and seasoned with salt, pepper, and cinnamon. UUMMMMMMMMMM, best served on soda crackers.
Becky
Nope... sounds good though!
One thing we were thinking, on a day we're going to just be here, was that we could cook the turkey that's been in the freezer - on the barbecue outside... it's good - good for snacking and lunches for the week. Unless it puts us to sleep :~D
We never have enough people here to justify making the turkey... but with you, and Rosie, we could have a nice tirkey dinner one night.
Well that sounds great:), and alot of fun. Maybe we can get the stuff and I'll chop up a batch of taboli:)
Becky
Oh, wait...barbecue turkey..I've never had that. Do you just cook it on the grill, or do you really barbecue it, sauce and all???
Becky
Okay - it sounds like a good thing when it's hot out and you want a cool salad.
Well, in my experience taboli is something you have to kind of acquire a taste for. I wouldn't touch any of those vegetables by themselves, but mixed together like this I hurt my self on the stuff.
My Son in law, on the other hand likes ALL those vegetables by themselves, (except maybe the parsley), but it took awhile for him to like taboli. Now he asks for it. BUT, his main experience till he became part of our family was eating the crap taboli in the resturants. Except for those Steak houses it's just not good anywhere else. But he's a good guy, he says mine is the best:)
Becky
UUUMMMMMMMMMMMMM...that looks great:)
Becky
And it's great to do it outside, keep from heating the house up with the oven on all day.
Our oven doesn't 'bake' well, anyway.
Yeah, cooking a turkey in the traditional way in the summer would not be a smart thing:)
Becky
It's as bad as running the dryer all day. - Which I should be doing, but I'm not :~) Blame it on the heat!
LOL yes on the poop comment.
Well Mack has left to go to work again tonight:(. I don't mean to complain but I hate him working weekends, especially weekend night, especially Sunday night,,,but the next 3 weekends (at least I'll miss one of them), he is working on this job. A dealership lot.
I'm cooking me some supper, then going to watch a movie I've been told is good. Anyone every watch "The Notebook"???
Becky
Well, sorry about your being home alone... Haven't heard of the movie... Can't vouch for it :~)
