Michigan: Ancient word meaning "Hell froze over and here it is."
You gotta admit that he has denial down to an art though.
Yes he does. Every summer he invents a fantasy world in what he calls "Northern Michigan" (as if Michigan could be anything but Northern) and spins tales of scenic beauty, warm beaches and sunny days, leaving out minor facts such as the presence of football size mosquitoes and fish that sprout facial hair and warts.
Truth be known, you don't need to get frostbite here, you simply have to be smarter than the winter, guess it's why we don't complain about our voting booths up here....It's the daily experience that keeps it away. Playing in the extraordinary blue waters of the lakeShovelling so much every day, you just don't have the time to pay attention to it. On particularly wonderful days like today On the one day we don't have to shovel, then it stands out particularly strong, and we understand how blessed we are to have to shovel 364 days a year.......
Does your blue hair club have a betting pool on when the first hurricane hits?
Hi everyone. Just got back online. Had really bad storms last night, and we lost cable and internet.
My daughter was pumping water all night as she lost power and the sump pump wouldn't work. At least we didn't lose our power this time. :) Missed by a quarter mile..
Gramp had to run to Home Depot and get them a generator. Lots of trees down in the area, but it sure is nice to finally have the TV and internet working again.
Sheesh what weather, and more strong storms predicted for this afternoon... Cold front, donchano? Sighhhh...with every good thing, comes a threat. Best find the box with most of the candles before the storm front. Of course I have no idea where the candle holders are.
Nully.....you'd better get well quick or I might have to come down there..
(No way you want that!)
Smoooooooooooooootch....
Been keeping Computer turning off a lot in this heat did not want a melt down no AC. (New AC coming soon!)
Thank you Libby for the heads up, my prayers are with Nully!
Besides the hot, flat, ugly, humid, alligator infested, voter challenged wastelands......
Sharky that is a little misleading Michigan is: mainly Hot, flat, humid; minus alligators and ugly!
Upstate is beautiful with all her lakes streams and green woods etc!
Michigan has 83 Counties
The land was named after Lake Michigan, the word 'Michigan' itself being French for the Ojibwe misshikama (read "mish-ih-GAH-muh"), meaning "big lake" (compare kitchikama, meaning "Great Lake" - pronounced "gitch-ih-GAH-ma," or "Gitchee-Gumee" as rendered by Longfellow).
Continue prayers.
We miss your posts.
Get better.....
The shark needs more chum for the water.......and Pup needs you to be working!
:-)
I live in two places......the great Up North, which is truly like Narnia without the witch. Also Ann Arbor is nothing like you describe, but full of hilly areas with lakes, rivers, beautiful woods, etc......hence its name.
'Sorry about that.....
Stay Safe, Grannie.
Wild weather out in Utah too, Provo, the town next to me, had wind gusts to 90 that took out power to large swaths of the town, probably 100,000 people without electricity for an extended period as trees took out power lines. Some areas lost 80% of their old trees.

Cheers.
p.s. Just for Grins -- and to be thankful for problems you don't have...
