WASHINGTON, May 31 After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.
Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

In regard to your tagline, I recommend that you read this story ... ( by Ambrose Bierce)

Here is the "money quote", as far as I'm concerned:
The coroner smiled.
'The account that you posted to your newspaper,' he said, 'differs, probably, from that which you will give here under oath.'
'That,' replied the other, rather hotly and with a visible flush, 'is as you please. I used manifold paper and have a copy of what I sent. It was not written as news, for it is incredible, but as fiction. It may go as a part of my testimony under oath.'
'But you say it is incredible.'
'That is nothing to you, sir, if I also swear that it is true.'

'I was visiting him at this place to shoot and fish. A part of my purpose, however, was to study him and his odd, solitary way of life. He seemed a good model for a character in fiction. I sometimes write stories.'
'I sometimes read them.'
'Thank you.'
'Stories in general -- not yours.'
Some of the jurors laughed. Against a sombre background humour shows high lights. Soldiers in the intervals of battle laugh easily, and a jest in the death chamber conquers by surprise.

G'night all. Gotta get up early and go poke holes in paper with little pieces of fast moving lead at large distances.
Got a complete Molle rig with ammo pouches on the line for the person with the best groupings.
Wish me luck...

We get them 3-4 times a week. At least we don't get the huge "supercells" with tornados, We don't really get those type of storms here either - once a decade or so we get a really intense thunderstorm, and we get the occasional tornado (seen one meself), but more often than not, just maybe 10-15 claps of lightning over the course of a couple of hours.
like we did in Tulsa all spring and summer. About once a month, we'd end up huddling in our downstairs back hall because there was a tornado in our area.
How many did are in your family again? Sounds like a squeeze! ;)

We had eight in our family when we moved from Tulsa. It was very crowded when we had "tornado drill"! My husband would bravely sit in the living room watching the weather radar on TV, while I kept order in the "shelter."
