WASHINGTON, May 31 — After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.

Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

I will spit on Ted Turners grave for killing it.

They didn't say when this new chapter will be set. After "Sleeping in Light" I assume.

"... it's me who doesn't have a life ... knowledgeable on sci-fi is a dead giveaway!"

Hey!!

One thing I liked about Babylon 5 is that the station rotated for artificial gravity. At last a sensible notion for explaining why people didn't bounce up in the air.

I note, for those who have been following Stargate SG1 that many of the characters on "Eureka" are ex-Stargate extras.

When I had to work to support myself instead of being a stay-at-home wife and mom, I lost track of all TV shows except the news. I didn't even watch Home Improvement until it's final year. Now, I'd almost kill to have the DVD's...:o|

Tim Allen said that character was based on his neighbor when he was a kid. He said the fence was so high that all he ever saw of his neighbor was his eyes and hat.

(His birth name is Timothy Allen Dick, and he has three brothers.)

I think if superluminal travel is possible - then so is artificial gravity - both would require a device for producing gravitons.

I note, for those who have been following Stargate SG1 that many of the characters on "Eureka" are ex-Stargate extras.

I never saw Eureka.. but I think Stargate is brilliant - for one thing, there is none of the PC crap that dominated ST:TNG (at least in the first couple of series).

Oh, cool!

(His birth name is Timothy Allen Dick, and he has three brothers.)

I think he had a stint in jail too, if I'm not mistaken.

The second episode is supposed to be repeated, I think on Friday. Check your schedules.

The second episode has some humorous elements. His house gets huffy when he is late for dinner.

"I think if superluminal travel is possible - then so is artificial gravity ..."

Intuitively, synthetic gravity of some sort seems more likely than superluminal travel.

The good news about that, however, is that it implies a reactionless drive.

Keep in mind, lightspeed is only a problem for return voyages. One way trips can go as far as you wish.

Yes.. I think I know what you mean - the drive itself would have to sit either outside the warp bubble or just on it's membrane, unless of course it can project the warp field.

Keep in mind, lightspeed is only a problem for return voyages. One way trips can go as far as you wish.

That is true, I guess.

Yes, he did spend some time in jail, and it could have ruined his career. Instead, HE broke the news publicly before the tabloids could. He also has his own line of tools, some of which he has invented.

I liked the premise - Earth infected with a plague that would remain dormant for 5 years before activating - it's the the ultimate time-bomb!
