WASHINGTON, May 31 — After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.

Phones are a nuisance always unless I am making the call, or it's one I'm waiting for....I once worked in a place where I had to answer the phone for 120 English instructors. I came to hate the phone very, very much.

1/2 inch of rain isn't considered a lot here in the west of Ireland either, I remember when I was in hospital in Dublin - two Dublin women complaining about the rain, I thought "what rain??" ;)

I was a telephone CSR, and after 5 years of that, I decided the phone is for MY convenience. If I want to answer it when it rings, I will. Otherwise, I'll let the answering machine pick it up.

I have a pre-paid cell phone...that way, when someone asks me for my cell number, I can tell them "it's a tool, not a toy."

Not sure how much rain you get,but a lot of places around here get less than 15 inches a year, and those are the wet places. Here in Ogden, because of the mountains, we can bump it up to about 17 inches.
