WASHINGTON, May 31 — After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.
Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

I prefer cold and snow over hot weather. It's easier for me to layer clothes than to try to cool down. Plus, I don't like showing off skin, and it's uncomfortable staying covered while it's hot out.

Earlier today, some of my friends/co-workers and I were joking about Echelon.
One of them called anothers cell phone and left a voicemail containing "red flag" phrases. I sent an email list containing a couple hundred.
As Odin as my witness, there is a helicopter circling my neighborhood right now. Not focusing on my house, but considering helos don't fly around here that low at night...
Just a co-inky-dink, I'm sure...
But still, someone remind me to tell Jason to never do that again... not even in jest...

Like I said, more than likely they are chasing someone on either of the North-South major thouroughfairs that bracket North Austin...
But in context of this afternoon, it does make a person a bit paranoid. OK, maybe not all persons, but this person? Definately.

I'm doing fine. Not a whole lot is going on here. I suppose that is good in a way. I don't need too much excitement. LOL!

Except for the helicopter... nothing much goin' on here either.
I did get to watch SG-1 tonight. Disappointing. It just seems to me that they have run out of ideas and are trying to scrape a last season or two out before folding the whole thing.

I watched a little tv tonight too off and on. I didn't watch a whole episode of anything. I never really got into SG-1. I watched a couple of episodes in the past, but I was lost - probably because I hadn't seen earlier episodes.

Even though it's Friday, and it's not quite midnight here, I suppose I should get some sleep. I'm trying to keep from getting back into the habit of going to bed around 2 or 3 am, even on weekends.

Is that a dry or humid 106?
I have to use the AC even now at night because of humidity.
It's about 85 and humid at almost 10pm out here.
We enjoyed 111 last Saturday but that wasn't so bad because it was a dry heat.

Have nice dreams.
I was out for a while and brought home a cheese pizza.
Seems the 4 pound dog is just positive this 8 pound pizza was HIS dinner.
It was, but only a little crust and some cheese. :)
I am having barking demands from behind me for ice chips right now. LOL
One bad thing, there is an owl in the back yard next door now and I may not be able to allow my dog to go out in the back yard safely anymore. :(
