WASHINGTON, May 31 After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.
Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

Morning TC.
I'm on my way to work.
Have a great day!
To: fanfan
Thanks, you too! I've got a houseguest (well, yard-guest, they camped out) leaving shortly, and two kids in bed with a Creeping Crud of some sort. I hope this all clears up in time for my birthday on Saturday!

tsk! always a slave to fashion... Not so much a slave as an indentured servant! We've suffered a major power outage from a storm last night. I'm writing to you from an "unsecured location". We'll be lucky to have our power restored by 8 pm tonight, which will make it 24 hours since the power went out. I'm praying that the meat in the big freezer makes it. *crossing fingers*
Secundus reports that you have corresponded with him via email. He is well pleased, although, I'm sure he wishes that KODT would write back. Chat when you can.

No rest for the wicked.
We're without electricity today due to a storm that took out trees, lines, and transformers. Theoretically, our power should be restored by 8 pm tonight (8/19/06). I'm hoping that the meat in the big freezer will survive. It's a LOT of meat to have to replace, if it does not make it.
Chat when you can.

Oy, good luck with your meat! Things can stay frozen in a closed freezer for a fairly long time. When my husband unplugged our top-loader, for reasons which escape me, there was still frozen food in there when I noticed it was off, two days later.

No rest for the wicked. Even the extremely wicked. Or even the partly naughty for that matter.
I hope your meats ok...
There's a joke in there some where...

Sort of a slow drive by...meaning I have a few minutes, I think. In between laundry loads and kids.

Howdy! I'm cleaning, too. I've have three kids who seem to have the Creeping Crud (two have thrown up, one's in bed), and I'm hoping everyone else won't get it.

The little girl had that last wek. It only lasted a day, but she wasn't feeling very good at all. I'm glad no one else got it. At least, no one else that I have to clean up after...;o]

Elen started out feeling sick yesterday, and she seems improved today. She keeps going to bed, but she hasn't thrown up again. Sally and Tom are on the first day of it.
As long as all three little boys don't start, I'll consider it a victory.
Now I must go disinfect more!
