GM, Bob.
i turned off the PC & "hit the sheets" before i saw this post of yours.
and i'm still "whipped" this AM. "assembling/moving office furniture" over at the embassy, at nearly 60YO, really "took it out of" me, yesterday. 12+ hours of that "fun & games" was TOO much for "these old bones", i guess. i hurt in "places", that i didn't know "i had places".(chuckle)

I used to live in a town called Ben Lomond (and yes, the reservoir nearby was named Loch Lomond). But it was a little weird -- Ben Lomond was at the bottom of a valley, it should have been Glen Lomond. ("Ben" is from Gaelic "beann": mountain, "glen" from "gleann", valley.)

Yep. I knew that much gaelic but it's good to let the unwary know when they are being snookered!
I saw a photo of the Scots Ben Lomond, and if you get the angle right, my Ben Lomond looks a good bit like the other...it was named because of that resemblance. Wonder if someone was homesick?

It's quite likely. There's a story we learned in Gaelic class from the time of the Clearances -- of a shipload of Gaels that burst into tears when they reached Nova Scotia, because it looked so much like home.
Funny. Right next to "my" Ben Lomond (where I started learning pipes, btw), on the top of the ridge/hill/mountain, was the community of Bonny Doon. But Doon is a river in Scotland.
