WASHINGTON, May 31 After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.
Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

Has to be experienced to be believed.
You bake in the noon time and freeze at night.
The silence is so great that it hurts. Nothing but the wind, the road, the rocks and the sea.
You can feel the moisture being sucked out of you but after sundown the stars come out and you frankly do not care.
Sheer beauty and it goes on forever. Just don't wander away from the road. You will never find your way back.

Ben Lomond is one of the wettest places in Utah, because it jutts out further than most of the Wasatch front, and can catch more moisture...I'm looking forward to Boise, where there's no Salt Lake to keep things all humid-y....and I have a pretty river, mountains, and blue ribbon trout streams at hand...and one of the most bicycle friendly cities in the US...

It is best to keep the seasons in mind.
If starting late in the season, such as during the next few weeks, you should walk North to South.
In the early Spring, you would want to walk South to North.

Yes, the classic way is to start in Georgia in the spring and head north.
I don't know why I want to do this, but it really is something I would like to attempt...at least in my head!
