well - what's to say - you obviously have an inside track...
LOL
yours is a much better comeback than mine was on this
...which anyone with working reading comprehension will note is different from claiming that *everything* in the book is factual.
When asked on The Today Show how much of the book is based on reality, author Dan Brown replied, Absolutely all of it is historical fact (October 10, 2005).
Congratulations -- by snipping out the middle of his reply, you have GROSSLY DISTORTED what he actually said and changed the meaning of his answer.
But then, I've come to expect that sort of thing from the folks who are going absolutely bonkers over a freaking novel and summer fluff film...
Yes, I mean in certain cases it's improper or unethical, and your example is not one of those cases, but Brown's book most certainly is. I have a better example, which will probably confuse those who believe that a movie advertised as "based on a true story", is not fiction. (I think dramatizations are fiction.) Walk the Line "based on on a true story" of Johnny Cash's life. (I haven't seen it, it's not my kind of genre, even if I like Johnny Cash.) Evidently his first wife, or maybe it was her descendants, I don't quite remember who, didn't appreciate her portrayal in the film. Let's say she had a good case? Wasn't then the script's distortion of this person unethical and improper?
Why does Jesus refer to Himself as the bridegroom in St. Matthew 9:15?
"And Jesus said to them: Can the children of the bridegroom mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then they shall fast.
He doesn't speak of marrying a woman in this statement.
He refers to Himself as the bridgegroom again in St. Matthew 25:10
"Now whilst they went to buy, the bridegroom came: and they that were ready, went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut."
This has to be speaking of a spiritual marriage, not one of an earthly nature as between a man and a woman.
It "suggests" a whole lot more than that, and both of you know it. It "suggests" that O.D. is full of murdering lunatics who go around killing people on the orders of eeeevil bishops, when they aren't flagellating themselves bloody. Except that it doesn't just "suggest" that, it says so flat out, in so many words.
And that is what's technically called a slanderous lie.
Ever hear of parables?
Sure I have, but the parables always had a meaning behind the telling of them did they not?
Hahahaha! :)
Ahhhh sweeps week...
I see no threat to Christianity by the expression of what other people believe or may believe or can fictionally be depicted as believing. Neither the book nor the movie is about Jesus. It is about what others believe about Jesus. They are entitled to their beliefs just as Mormons and Jews are entitled to theirs.
This is much ado about less than nothing
I never said anything about censorship. Did I?
Hmmmmm?
I'm not going to see this movie, but I did read the book. IMO, this whole "event" is being blown totally out of proportion. Any real Christian knows it's fiction. I did find the book's premise entertaining and a clever story line that originated from a PAINTING. People need to get a sanity check.
sigh............you don't get it.

I only remember one fictional opus dei murderer and one fictional conspirator -maybe there were more.
Sigh.......Perhaps you could explain.
Enjoyed your posts on this thread. Actually bookmarked a couple of your references. Keep up the good work!
If you only have the words of Jesus, you are not working with the entire revelation of God to man. No wonder you are struggling a bit. Even Jesus accepted the Holy Scriptures that had been revealed to man during his time (The Old Testament) as the Word of God.
Read the Bible. The entire Bible. The Words of Jesus are critical, and so is every bit of God's Word. Once you consider all of God's Word, you will have a better picture of the truth.
Enough chatting - got a movie to go to...
The contradictions are in your mind, not in the Bible. That's not just my opinion. That's the judgement of a huge number of Christian scholars who have not found such contradictions in the Bible over the past 2000 years. Oh, I'm sure you could twist the meaning of the words to invent contradictions. But that's no more valid than the conspiracy theories and false history in Dan Brown's book.
I hope you enjoy the show. I'm sure they line up with your heretical view of scripture and Jesus quite nicely.
