I still don't buy the whole 'death threat' thing - I have read somewhere that the sheriff's office where Natalie Maines lives has never heard from them concerning it.
"Taking the Long Way", the new Dixie Chicks album is being released May 23. They'll start the morning show route next week and will be performing on Good Morning America. 60 Minutes is scheduled to run a story on them as well. Get ready for another few weeks of Natalie putting herself back up on the cross.

When the Dixie chicks hit the scene I really liked them for what I saw as a new, original sound fusing country and rock by three very talented female musicians. They didn't hesitate to show their instermental chops and Maines had a good voice. In their last album and the first single from their current album they have become the same overly produced, music by the numbers pablum that most other current mainstream music is. Sure the songs are OK and the performance is studio perfect but you feel as if you've heard it all before. Also, you can anticipate every lick and chord change two bars before it happens because it's the same formulistic pap as the last and next song you'll hear on FM radio.

Since it is indeed a pretend death threat, let's be complete and make it from an enraged white male, a European-American skinhead gun nut, southern white supremacist from the far religious right, clamoring for a theocracy, and maybe even a return to the good ol' days of slavery.
Did I forget anything?

I don't know if their learning has increased any over time. But surely with their now aged act, they qualify to be known as the Dixie Hens.

Actually, O'Reilly lost me when he went after the Swift Boat Vets. Haven't watched him since.
Its not a boycott, I just can't stand to look at the guy.
I was a DC fan up until they got ugly, now I can't stand to listen to them. Its not a boycott, I just can't listen to them anymore.

The Dixie Chicks seem to be entertainers of average or less than average intelligence compounded by being educated in our dumbed down government schools. More power to them. As for me I never heard of them until the controversy overseas. Like other Democrats they have ZERO class.

Closing of article:
You have a right to reject her beliefs and not to buy her stuff. But to punish her further is not in the spirit of America. If they just make a new album and don't spend the next few weeks playing the victim, I will agree with O'Reilly. However, if they promote this album by reveling in their victimhood and dredging up the past, I will continue to ingnore them, because they will be jerks in the present tense as well.
Fair enough?

Sick of the Dixie Twits! No one tried to shut them up, no one tried to keep them from talking. They're free to say and sing whatever they want. But I don't have to buy their garbage music either!

Natalie Maines has paid the price for her remarks. Her life has been threatened and she remains under siege. That is wrong as well. The woman has a right to believe what she wants to believe. You have a right to reject her beliefs and not to buy her stuff. But to punish her further is not in the spirit of America. Nobody is punishing Natalie Maines. She is punishing herself. She is an attention addict who can't help acting stupid and immature in public.
Here are the rules of every day common sense Bill: A person says something stupid...People are entitled to tell them that they are full of sh*t.

Here's a good example. Al Sharpton comes on this program a lot. It's always a lively debate and often we have a few laughs. I'll submit Reverend Sharpton has won some respect for his appearances. But Al's not getting any play on Country radio stations.

Well let's hope it was better than their last album. I believe I heard the new song on the radio the other day. A little too pop and not enough country for my taste.

I don't much care for their music Chixie Dicks .
Why listen to them when you got Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Randy Travis and some really great country singers available on free radio.
