A man in Hayward, CA, was rescued from a chimney in which he was stuck, totally naked. He had locked himself out of the house and decided to get in through the chimney, stripping his clothes off because, he says, it would reduce the friction. Police have arrested the man on suspicions of being under the influence of drugs.

We are getting one heck of a hail storm at the moment. It's been misty, windy and cloudy all day. As deaf as I am, the hail is making an awful lot of noise. My poor plants, I hope they survive. The hail sounds like they are big pieces of ice, and they are making a fierce noise.
All the indications were in that direction. This AM he withdrew from FR, Brian Kilmeade substituted for him on the talk show (I don't think I could stand that!) and he didn't show up on the Juan Williams/Tony Snow segment of O'Reilly. But why would Colmes get to make the announcement? If Colmes was speaking out of turn, that is just plain bad manners.
Be very careful. Hail indicates that conditions are right for the formation of tornadoes.
Given that you're in San Fran, perhaps a meeting was the best idea.

I have very mixed feelings about this. I make a prediction that soon some FReepers (not talking about any of you) will be turning on him because now he won't be able to speak as Tony Snow but only as the spokesman for the White House. He's been a powerful voice for conservatives but now will have to sell the White House agenda ... even the parts we disagree with. And this will anger some people.
I wish Tony the best and really appreciate the sacrifices he is making to take this position. It is the same sort of patriotism that has led men like Cheney and Rumsfeld to stand in the bulls-eye when they could be enjoying lucrative private careers or retirement and it is a quality for which they deserve great honor and appreciation.
Even though Tony won't be able to represent his own views, he will be able to use his charm and personality and I think will be much more effective than Scott has been. May God bless Tony and his family!
