Well, the Rangers finally made the playoffs again after almost a decade. And what do we get? Only one of the most pathetic displays of post season hockey I have seen in a long, long time. Bad enough that they lost the first game to New Jersey 6-1. But now in the second game they just gave up a goal when they were on a 5 on 3 power play! That's right, they had a two man advantage and gave up a goal. Simply stunning. What the hell is to point of making the playoffs if you aren't even going to show up and make an effort.
I know Jagr is hurt and isn't playing today but still....
Anyway, if this "performance" doesn't prove that Jagr isn't, by far, the league MVP then I don't know what will. They never would have come close to the playoffs, and wouldn't deserve to, without him.
OK, I'm done with my little rant.
Yeah. And Jamie Langenbrunner, Grant Marshall, and Richard Matvichuk. :) Oh, the goalie can play, too.
Plenty of crickets around Raleigh these days although I still give them a chance against the Habs but it is a diminishing one.
So cry me a river!
Nope. The Dallas Stars have their embarrassment meters pegged.
For the FOURTH year in a row, Marty Turco fails to show up in goal, and gives up five goals in the first game, and five goals in the second.
Dallas has had one good period, the second last night.
'Course, in game one, the Modano line had no points, goals, no assists, and Modano himself had five giveaways to the Avs.
Eddie Belfour was a nutty friggin' drunk, but man, could he step up in the playoffs and shut the door!!
all but Gionta were on the Stars Stanley Cup team IIRC...
Yeah well you have to get to the playoffs first to step up and this season Belfour didn't exactly propel the Toronto Maple Leafs anywhere except to the phone to confirm tee times. I understand Ed will be available to whoever next season though.
Correct. Well, the Stars didn't have Brodeur either. They did have Crazy Eddie back in his prime.
Tippitt is just desperate enough to bench Turco tomorrow night. For the life of me, I don't even know who the Stars' back-up goalie is.
Dude, you ain't kidding. It isn't entirely Turco's fault, but he has now played enough playoff games to establish a very disturbing pattern. The Stars should seriously consider switching to Hedberg for the rest of the playoffs. They still may not win, but they certainly aren't going to win if they continue playing like the first two games.
In the good old days NHL teams only had one goalie and maybe someone sitting in the stands just in case.
Remember that when they were playing for Stanley Cups, the Stars owned the Avs. Unfortunately, they no longer seem interested in playing for Stanley Cups.
Johan Hedberg. And unlike Turco, he has had playoff success in the past. Given where the team is right now, this is almost a no-brainer if the team really wants to make a desparate move.
I have a good many friends, as well as my brother, who are Ranger fans. I don't feel too sorry for them because I know if the shoe was on the other foot they'd be giving me hell.
It's great for the sport to have the area abuzz with hockey after last year's lockout and it's good to have a heated rivaly with someone other than the Flyers for a change.
Go Devils!
Yes, GO SHARKS! Jumbo Joe for the MVP, though if Jagr wins I would understand that too.
I am an Avs fan - and this series so surprises me. Avs with a headcase, injured, trade deadline goalie who barely played in the regular season matching up against Turco. I initially thought this series would go 5 games with Dallas advancing. Glad they've proven me wrong. The Stars were basically on coast mode the last month of the season, not being able to catch the Wings for the #1 seed, and having the #2 seed pretty much locked - wasn't a lot to play for during that last month - and now when they need to hit the switch they are finding it difficult. Still could easily go 6 or 7 games.
Stick a fork in the Stars, they're done.
Turco sucks!
Amen to that, brother!!
