There are no good guys or gals in this story. It's a classic tale of Western hedonism. At the very best, the accused have shown themselves to be dissipated college boys who thought it was a good idea to have a stripper at their drinking party. At the very best, the accuser has shown herself to be a skank who accepts money in exchange for her human dignity.
If it turns out this woman is lying, for whatever reason, the vultures have already descended...Jesse and gang. They smell big money...lawsuits against the alleged rapists/kidnappers, against Duke. Meanwhile where do the accused go to get back their reputation (such as it is when you're 20 and a college kid)? And the damage done to race relations in NC is tragic, no matter what.
"There are no good guys or gals in this story."
The only reason this is even a story is that its at Duke which has a reputation for good morals. I keep mentioning Brown university where the school sponsors an annual orgy.
You can't paint the entire school or sports team as bad for having a stripper. Evidently there were a at least a couple people willing to pay though.
Concise and correct. "Lap dances" (an ugly term if ever there was one) aren't cool. Strip clubs aren't cool. Only a debased culture would think they are.

You don't know that.
A couple of players hire a stripper and you conclude all members of the team are bad guys? even those who aren't there?
Is this why socialists call capitalism "dirty"? There's a market. The stripper is supplying the labor pool. Consumers purchase goods and/or services from the labor pool.
But the socialists want to make prostitution LEGAL. This is not capitalism in the good sense. Leave it to the socialists to suddenly like capitalism when it involves something purient.
They're young, and they used poor judgment. They're young. They're also top students and top athletes.
