She plans to keep a low profile until the students go on trial to avoid inflaming tensions in the black community, where opinion is running heavily against the privileged students.
One of the most hurtful things for the woman about the media circus surrounding the case, the cousin said, is the tendency to assume the worst about her because she is a stripper.
"She's a victim and she's a human being," the cousin said. "Her occupation couldn't justify that a crime like this was committed."

= play the race card. My 30-year old daughter has followed this closely on the tube and Internet. She said this woman was a slut, liar, gold digger, prostitute looking for money from rich white boys. It is ALL about the money in her opinion.

A neighbor who reportedly witnessed what was going on next door said woman returned inside around 12:30 a.m., according to a written statement to police and provided to CNN by a source with knowledge of the case.The DA says the stripper was raped after 12:30 am, thirty minutes after midnight.The district attorney has said that the woman was raped afterward.
Police were called to the parking lot of a Kroger store not far from the party at 1:22 a.m., search warrant documents said, and found a woman in a car who told them she had been raped.
The woman said she was "sexually assaulted for an approximate 30-minute time period by the three males," according to a police report cited in the search warrant documents.
Defense attorneys said they have records showing that Seligmann called the On Time Taxi company at 12:14 a.m. from his cell phone that night.
On Time Taxi owner Moez Mostafa showed CNN his computer phone log, showing a call coming in at that time.
Mostafa said he picked up Seligmann and a friend at 610 North Buchanan Blvd. at 12:19 a.m. He said he could tell that Seligmann had been drinking, but that he didn't appear drunk.
"They seemed calm, like normal," Mostafa told CNN. "I didn't recognize anything different."
The cab driver said he then drove Seligmann to a Wachovia Bank to get money, and defense attorneys say an ATM receipt shows he withdrew cash at 12:24 a.m.
Mostafa said he next drove the lacrosse player to a restaurant, then back to his dorm.
Defense sources said a card reader at the door of the dorm shows Seligmann's student ID card was swiped to get inside at 12:41 a.m.
The defense says a timeline and witnesses will show Finnerty also was at a restaurant when the alleged attack took place.
At least one of these guys was at his dorm at 12:41 am.
Methinks that the DA will have to change his timeline.
The question has puzzled me for awhile.
The timeline reads like this --
1:49:00 DPD takes AV to mental health center (0:17:00)
2:31:00 DPD takes AV to Duke Hospital (0:42:00)
2:50:00 DPD changes incident report to include alledged rape (0:29:00)
Was -- (1) a physical examination made that showed rough sexual activity,
(2) were the results of that examination then reported to the accuser (perhaps in question format, such as "have you had sex with anyone tonight?"),
(3) and (with the police present and presumably having one existing charge of public intoxication against the accuser), does the accuser (perhaps wishing to avoid an additional charge of prostitution, or explain the evidence of the sexual activity to a boyfriend), only then claim rape?
It would be interesting to know when the police first heard the accuser claim rape (or, for that matter, it would be interesting to know whether the rape charge even originated with the accuser -- it could have originated with the examining nurse, been adopted by the police, and only adopted by the accuser after sobering up and hearing about it).
They wouldn't have been in that situation if they didn't hire this particular stripper either.
Hiring a stripper goes under of the category of college boys just being college boys. There's nothing heinous or scandalous about it.

I've got three of the best kids imaginable; but I learned yestarday that my 30 year-old son got a girl pregnant two months ago. It's not so bad since he has been married to her four almost five years.
"What if she isn't lying"? That my friend, would be scary. She ID's the wealthiest players on the team, quite a while after the incident. All the players submitted DNA testing, and none showed to match what the rape kit produced. The accused apparently have alibis. So who did it, if she was raped?
Now that disgrace of a DA is issuing search warrants for her lost shoe? Why? Does she need the other shoe for her dancing gigs? These girls need wardrobe consultants : (
If I had an adult daughter and she and her friends hired a stripper to come to a party then I'd have no problem with it.
There are some additional details not contained in the first two search warrants.
Don't know where you got this info, but I hope you're right, and I hope that includes the DA, the Duke president (for not containing this on campus, and letting the student body condemn these guys on heresay!)....and anyone else!!
