She plans to keep a low profile until the students go on trial to avoid inflaming tensions in the black community, where opinion is running heavily against the privileged students.
One of the most hurtful things for the woman about the media circus surrounding the case, the cousin said, is the tendency to assume the worst about her because she is a stripper.
"She's a victim and she's a human being," the cousin said. "Her occupation couldn't justify that a crime like this was committed."

With all due respect, I will have to disagree with you on that one. You fail to realize the subculture of these professions. There is drug addiction, "white slavery", physical threats to consider. Not making any excuse for a bald faced liar with a drug/alcohol problem, but it's an ugly world at the bottom of the food chain. Many do not choose to do these things. They're the ones who don't get noticed until they're dead.

You know I think that you are guilty of trying to put words into mouth's. that might disagree with you.
In any serious confrontation between black and white racial slurs will almost always be uttered. Only the white person will be held responsible.
That's what I remember. So we don't know where she made that first call from, although I'm remembering that in the very beginning there were posts that she says she drove around the block and was parked in front of the house when she made that first call.
And well all said if she was frightened, why would she drive around and then park in front of the house again.

you may certainly think whatever you like, but i have kept up with the Duke threads since this story broke and i have seen those sentiments expressed. one does not need to defend these boys on moral grounds, or even to LIKE THEM personally or their "type", in order to be outraged by a false claim of rape.
Then you missed Susan Filan on Abrams yesterday, who suggested the boys may have put their coats on before they raped the stripper.

The point has been made that they could've done things differently.
This is a miscarriage of justice and it's entirely different than offending someone senses. Hell, they shouldn't drink either .. What are our chances of getting 18-20 year olds to stop drinking by just telling them?
She admitted early on in interviews she did about 3 one-on-ones a week. That's not very high on the food chain.
And having two children from another man while still married isn't terribly impressive either. Neither is stealing a car and running over a policeman.
i read ann coulter's article and while her point may be valid it is quite separate and apart from the issue of a false claim of rape. while the "victims" (rich white privileged whoremongering college boys) may not be likeable or defensible on moral grounds, they do not remotely merit having their lives ruined by a false charge of rape, any more than a virtuous, straight arrow of a male, who could have the same false charge made against him, in completely different circumstances.
And, when it is proved that they were falsely accused, I will be just as outraged.
