While I'm open to new ideas for plantings, I refuse to use the one I saw once in front of a house in the N.C......a commode filled w/petunias. 8)
...er...that's N.C. mountains.......strong coffee didn't wake me enough from the blackout sleep I had last night. lol
That's where I draw the line, too. I'm not keen on putting a headboard or footboard outside to make a flower bed , either.
I figure the tomato and cucumber foliage will hide the tires and ladder.
I can't wait to hear other's as well.
Carolina.. I thought of you this AM. I didn't get to bed until 5ish.. Had a photo project to finish & send off... Today is garbage day & we are to have the garbage out 7 to guarantee pickup.
the pick up has been between 11-1 the past 4 years. This morning I went out to place garbage at curb & it had already been picked up!!!! With our location contiguous to natl park, we cant really put garbage out in night hours at all sorts of wild things will get into it & it is all over the street & yards.
So will later take it via van to the township hall dumpsters. I have a lot & just don't want it around another week!
My garbage man supplies the heavy roll out garbage cans w/hinged covers. If yours doesn't, I understand that there are places one can buy one, so perhaps your problem could be solved that way.
Glad things are okay weatherwise where you are, Granny. I remember last night you posted that the sky was yellow and threatening. Then this morning I heard about the tornadoes that hit so was concerned about you.
Good Friday morning to you, Northern Yankee.
I always enjoy reading about the traditions at your home as they usually involve food, which is always interesting.
Hope you are enjoying the wonderful weather we've had in MN the past week. Next week is supposed to be back to "normal" - around 56 degrees.
I appreciate your concern, Belle.
It sounds like they've got quite a mess in Iowa City.
Clouds have rolled in and although it was sunny this morning (and hot) it looks like we will get more rain.
Leaving for the afternoon in about half an hour.
Hi Lysie - reporting in on the gardening front. We got our radishes, lettuce, carrots, and potatoes planted Wednesday. It's been a busy week or so here with outside work as my husband had to rototill the gardens and fertilize them first. We also cleaned out all the flower beds and fertilized (Preen) them and we have had to water also as it has been dry here.
This should get you in the mood for planting! I can't wait for those fresh veggies!
Managed a little gardening...more tomorrow??
Peach, how'd the linking go??
Well Roomey and I transplanted 6 tomatoe plants today, 2 are Big Boys, Mr. America, 1 is a yellow tomato, 2 are 1 red and the other a yellow cherry tomato and I put the Patio tomato in the frog. It just fits. I've put marigolds in each pot with the tomatoes. Now I'm getting ready to plant some mini okra. These are for Roomey, who just loves them. I grew up in an area, if it's slimy on the inside, don't eat it......my teeth clamp shut when an okra is on my fork. I even planted another row of potaotes, I have no idea what to do with these, except I was told they grow like peanuts. This is so much fun. Really I have no idea what my plants are supposed to look like when they pop out of the ground. No, I'm not pulling any weeds, until I know what is what. lol
Granny, happy to hear the tornado passed you by. I thought about you last night.
Oh, I'm going to get some grape tomatoes and plant them in a hanging basket.
Till, potato plant leaves remind me of tomato plant leaves..sort of..greener, perhaps.

Greg and I are going out for a few hours before picking Sarah up at 8:30. See you later.
I just tried it and it worked! I think it just doesn't work when I freepmail myself something, which hardly makes sense :-)
Thank you, Molly.
My tree rosees in pots look great! I clipped off a few dead branches, but otherwise they are fully leafed out and healthy. They have flower bus on them and will bloom within two weeks! Yay!
I am totally out of the news loop today, so I am off to chck the threads over on the New side. Back later.
Dolly, we live in a golf club neighborhood....tidy greens, waterways and no bushs or forests or natl parks...
..but if we leave bags of garbage overnight, we may still find it torn open in the morning...
..critters are critters....who knows what our critters are...(probably different from yours :)
...we have had a large alligator lately that has stayed longer than usual in our pond, lazy and floating day after day...(& who knows where they wander after dark--maybe between the houses straight to the garbage bags!!)
