We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!!
Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
Iran has announced they are stepping up uranium enrichment to a process involving a 54,000-unit centrifuge cascade. This would allow them the capability to produce a nuclear bomb in as little as 16 days. If they were to start today, they could have The Bomb by the deadline set by the UN for Iran to stop their nuclear program--April 28.
New Federal flood insurance guidelines have been issued for New Orleans; to qualify for flood insurance in the future in that locale, homes will have to be raised 1 to 3 feet above ground level, depending on the specific location.
And here's what suggestions of a "guest worker" program have wrought--illegal crossing of the border have increased dramatically in the last couple of weeks, at least in terms of people caught.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
They are "Special" catalogs,,,,, don't cha know?
LOL!
It is currently 88 degrees here, and my house is getting really warm. There is no way I am going to turn the a/c on in April. And if I do, I'm not going to mention it here.
I'll confess that mine has already been on a few times ... just for a few minutes to pull some humidity out. How it can be so humid when the weather is bone dry and we are in a drought, I don't understand. But just a few minutes of a/c every now and then keeps the house comfortable.
The average temperture here this time of year is 60 degrees.
There are storm warnings out, with areas North of us under a Tornado Warning.
How you doing, Kay? This yard work is conducive, not to sleep, but more like blackout time.
I had a dentist's appointment (just for my semi-annual cleaning and check-up) mid-morning and decided to just take the day off. I did some shopping and then have done a little of this and that around the house. Next week will be another busy one so I decided to take it easy while I could.
Yikes! That's a nasty looking cluster of storm cells! Are they heading your way?
There is a small storm cell South of I-80, I am dead on. (I just looked out the window and the sky is YELLOW. That is usually preceding GREEN sky, which means turn the radio on for weather information)
The worst of the weather looks to be North of I-80, that's where the tornado warnings are.
I'm going to go check the weather map again.
Hello, Kay. I turn the heater on in the morning to bring the house up to 70. But in the mid-afternoon, someone usually sneaks past me and turns the AC on.
HA! Today I was all alone most of the day and that thing was OFF!
I just checked the weather radar provided by a TV station in Cedar Rapids. It appears the storm cell which was West of us is sliding to the NE and is going to miss us.
Good for you. I don't know of anyone who needs a day off more than you do, Kay.
The cheese and fruit plate was a winner. The ham and brie ravioli exploded in the pork broth with beans... I won't use that brand of won-ton wrappers again. First time I EVER had that happen. Turnips were too sweet for the way I prepared them. Asparagus wasn't bad, but the season really isn't here yet.
Oh well. Nobody starved or died of food poisoning, and the lady of the house didn't have to cook tonight.

Dang. I hate when that happens! (altho I will admit, it seldom happens with grilled cheese sandwiches)
When I opened the fridge to get out the stuff, she asked if I had slaughtered a pig recently... LOL!
I had ham stock, baked ham, ground pork, and just about everything but the squeal on the bottom shelf, waiting for final preps and storage.
Prices on pig parts are pretty cheap for the consumer end around here. How do ya'll make any money raising them?
/johnny
The most money is made on the loins and on the manure (which replaces nitrogen which we need to grow corn)
It was in the 80s here today. Outside.
I cooked all day for the neighbor meal. Hours ago. My chef's thermometer on the counter says it's still 95 here in the kitchen.
'If you can't stand the heat.... inventory the walk-in reefer.'
I'll have to check on getting a walk-in. ;>)
/johnny
I also don't have any manure in the fridge.
I would take a half pickup load for the garden, if I could get it. And if the neighbors wouldn't complain. ;>)
/johnny
Likely it would eat the paint off the pickup bed.
