DURHAM, N.C. - Time-stamped photographs will show an exotic dancer was already injured and "very impaired" when she arrived at a party where she claims she was raped by members of Duke University's men's lacrosse team, an attorney for one of the players said Sunday. ADVERTISEMENT
Durham attorney Bill Thomas said some of the photographs, taken when she arrived at the house, indicate the woman was injured before getting to the party March 13. They show extensive bruises and scrapes on her legs, especially around the knees, he said.
"This young lady was substantially impaired. She had fallen several times during the course of the evening," Thomas said.
He declined to identify the player he represents and said he would not release the photos, taken by at least two cameras, until pending DNA tests are completed.
He also wouldn't say whether the photos were taken by a lacrosse team member or someone else; court documents have indicated that only team members were present at the party.
No one has been charged in the case, but the allegations that members of the nearly all-white team raped the woman, a black student at a nearby university, have rocked both Duke and Durham.
The allegations have led to the resignation of coach Mike Pressler, the cancellation of the lacrosse season and the suspension of one player from school.
Several dozen people gathered Sunday outside the house where the party took place, and pledged to return each Sunday until the case is resolved.

Whoa! How old are you? I am 51 and have 2 sons in college now and one that has already graduated. My husband remembers the fraternity hiring strippers on a couple of occasions and he is MY age. I'm not endorsing the idea, I am just saying that this has been going on for a very long time whenever guys live/work/compete together. (can you say Bachelor party?)
"...can you say Bachelor party?..."
Sure, I can say Bachelor party, I can say Las Vegas, I can say whore house, but I don't think it should be every or any Saturday night.
Just got a chuckle out of a FoxNews Channel segment that just ended. The report was about how Prince Harry was caught the other night at a strip joint with a lap dancer sitting on his lap.
Except in the case of THIS story, the spin by the commentaters was that there was nothing wrong with young men blowing off steam with strippers, that was a perfectly normal activity. LOL!
Thank you !!!
"Another Brawley wannabe"
Many younger Freepers do not remember the Sharpetoon and Brawley issue. Everyone in the media gives him a pass on that incident.
"Everyone in the media gives him a pass on that incident."
But as Rev. Al rightly points out, he is asked about that far more often than Ted "the swimmer" Kennedy is asked about Chapaquidick. (SP?!?!?)
she had rug burns long before going to the party.
Having spent a good ten years getting a higher education, I am here to tell you that college age boys are horny, and, wonder of wonders, yes they do hire strippers and such to ah..perform..at private functions.
Sharpton continues to refuse to apologyze for that horrow show that ruined lives. They treat him with respect as he ran for president and continued his scams by misusing federal funds.
"Sorry. I took too much time using the correct title!!"
LOL That is funny. I love your sense of humor.
(Yes, I read the other thread.)
Wait a minute, didn't she work for an escort service? Sorry, where I live that's just the legal term for a hooker. Gang raped? Why? Oops...did the guys not pay her for enough tricks? I'm not condoning the "use" of a "dancing" hooker...since it's pretty illegal in most states...but I have to say I'm proud of these guys for sticking together on this.
Consent isn't the issue for now- the players claim they did have sex with her period. If any of their semen is found to be inside the woman, their creditability is shot completely. If the semen doesn't match, it will be very difficult to make a case for rape, and depending on the what the photos actually show, difficult to make a case for assault and larceny as well.
Now that the evidence indicates none of the team members' DNA was found on (or in) the stripper, was there ANY OTHER DNA evidence found in or on her?
She may have had relations with someone else later. This is always brought up as in the recent ba$ketball case in Denver. Strangely absent in this case.
From what I understand from the lawyers, there was no evidence that she had had sex recently with anyone.
No, they will proclaim that in the end the whole episode was good for the comminuty, as it caused everyone to face issues that needed to be faced. She will be treated like an unlikely hero.
I haven't seen this issue raised, so I will: Why aren't these two women being arrested for contributing to the delinquincy of minors? The accuser is 27 years old, and the young men are under the age of 21, at least one of them is 19. And these women are taking off their clothing in front of them.
No. Why weren't they arrested for prostitution? They worked for an escort service, which to every law enforcement agency in America is synonymous with prostitution. I am sure a prostitute can be raped, but how do you prove it in a court room. Which I doubt she was raped(so far).
They'd never do that. The players are already guilty of being white male athletes at a prestigious university. They must be executed, preferably after Gloria Allred gnaws their nuts off and feeds them to Nancy Grace.
Innocent?! They're MEN, they can't be innocent if some falling down drunk stripper with a history of false reports and psychotic behavior accuses them.
And what makes you think she was gang raped?? The reporting of Nancy Grace? You unfortuately are clueless....
Oh Boy...I'm so off this thread....The dumb and the clueless.
Someone should write a soap opera......
