Time for a new FreeRepublic folding@home thread.

Our FreeRepublic team of 300+ members comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing have banded together to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via distributed computing, millions of computers around the world, contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).

Currently, the team is in 144th place (with 1,045 CPUs - 24,200 completed Work Units and nearly 4,000,000 points)

This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, please see the links posted below (or read one of the previous 8 folding threads)

I think my kids are finally turning the client back on after playing games with a conflict. They had been leaving it off in the past and my daily input was dropping. I think I'm about maxed out on my capabilities and still can't get on the "top 20 producers" list.

(Note to self... must buy more computers!)

Klutz by himself has nearly as many points as the DUmmies (1346693 for Kd vs. 1381769 for DU).

When did Klutz fall behind the DUmmies? What happened? Something's wrong with that pictures :)

I'm working on adding a laptop for slow folding. It's being resurrected after dying an unfortunate death by drowning. It's up and running except for the minor detail that it hangs when you bump it. If I can get it going I'll be up to five processors (although only four 24/7).

Not for me - My PowerBook just got hit with another Tinker that will take another 11 days to finish.

That's 3 Tinkers out of the last 4 WUs on the PB - 33 days for 723 points - ah - no one said life was fair.

Sweeeeet. Every once in awhile, if the stars align and my karma is bold, I hit the top 20. It is indeed a thrill and very rare in my case.

Of the 3 or 4 right behind me you seem the hardest to keep ahead of. Your catching the tinkers and last week I could not catch anything but 2107 and they kill my production.

Yes - my average is all over the place. Poping into the top 20 now and again only to decend into the pits of hades with several machines tied up for 10+ days on WUs.

It would seem that the more machines the more stable ones average would be - and it actually seemed to be for a week or so - but with the different types of WUs and loosing an internet connection plus multiple power failures and that stability vanished.

It's interesting to watch and try to stay detached.
