Time for a new FreeRepublic folding@home thread.

Our FreeRepublic team of 300+ members comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing have banded together to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via distributed computing, millions of computers around the world, contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).

Currently, the team is in 144th place (with 1,045 CPUs - 24,200 completed Work Units and nearly 4,000,000 points)

This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, please see the links posted below (or read one of the previous 8 folding threads)

Any idea what this sucker is, and how many points it's worth? p1163_p1136_p1130_L939_K12M_355K

It's not on their table, unfortunately. Quin just finished it, though. Seem to remember it was like 256 points.

You remember, Quin?

You were right - 241 points and it didn't take that long to get through... just 24 hours and a smiggen more.

RGR - we are at 61.8% and counting - 4 days to go and your server firewall suggestion has me thinking - just kidding.

Hanging in there and Folding for the memory of the Gipper.

I still remember the cartoon of Reagan dressed in cowboy with chaps by a fire heating up iorns branding the congresspersons one by one. Moooooo

Anybody got it? Love to see it again.

I've had a whole rash of them multi 11's lately, and most of mine have been taking 36 - 48 hours, but then again, my machines have been choking with having to work too, as they fold.

Say what you will, they're a whole lot easier to digest than the melts.

..... ah yes. But they're fun to look at in the rear view mirro too. Especially as they jiggle when they're trying to keep up :)

It's a great mark for our team. It looks like we will have a couple of more big folders before summer hits.

Sure seemed to take forever to get there!

I've had a whole rash of them multi 11's lately,

My machine only gets slowed down for roughly 6 hours out of 24 - it's folding it's heart out for at least 18 hours each day.

Say what you will, they're a whole lot easier to digest than the melts.

Got stuck with a 2106 this time... it's been 48 hours and I'm only at 70%.

You are doing good with my machines the 21XX ones seem to take just under 4 days.

2106 should have the points raised it is as long as the other two but half the points.

Update to the FAH Monitor: clicking on a machine's status (even when it's blank) will display information specific to that machine including the last transmission timestamp, and the status file timestamp.

This should help (at least a little) in the analysis of communication/folding problems.

LOL

Great job, Egon - Your page keeps getting better & better.

"Umm, is it Friday yet?"

Sorry, df, it's only Wednesday, so hang in there - it's hump day - all downhill from here, yeaaa.

But, hey, I give you permission to take the rest of the week off - as long as your machines keep folding, that is, LOL. 8>D

Jeez, I'm being haunted by this one WU: p1163_p1136_p1130_L939_K12M_355K

My laptop at home just finished one (finally) - BTW, yes, it's worth 241 points. Now the laptop just got assigned this one again. According to Egon it's going to take 4 days!

My computer at home is on its 3rd try to finish the same WU, orginally assigned on the 9th, the other two times it found errors when it went to restart it after a re-boot, and had to start over. That one says it's going to take to the 22nd???

I'd rather have a 2106 or somesuch.....

"Jeez, I'm being haunted by this one WU"

ROTFLOL

Man, I know what you mean - it's like some WUs latch onto you and won't let go.  The various configurations of them (variables assigned) seem to like batching up on the same system.  I suspect that it probably has more to do with hitting the same server for requesting WUs on successive units - probably because that server's IP is already in your cache and is found quicker.  (Don't know for sure, just a wilda** guess on my part.)

Haunting, though, is a good descriptive term, and in an eerie way, seems to fit, LOL.
