It depends what specific offense needs forgiving.
You're partially correct about why Mandisa is gone. Her success week to week was more talent dependent than the other female singers. Because she is fat, she could not afford to have weak performances. Last week she was bad. This week she was even worse. Too bad she's leaving because I think she provided two of the best performances of the contest thus far with "I'm Every Woman" and "I Don't Hurt Anymore", and I expect that those will remain two of the best performances of the competition.
Taylor wasn't good last night, but he's one of the most talented of the group. I haven't liked most of his song choices, but there's no doubt in my mind that the guy can sing. Listen to "Soul Thing" if you think Taylor is only about the visual aspect of performance.
I truly believe it was her outfit.
If both she and Ayla had worn different clothes at the time, I think both would have lasted longer.
Ayla wore those goofy pants, and Mandisa wore the ugliest top I've ever seen in my life. It was much louder than her voice, and the public was unforgiving.
Add Dylan, Petty, Tom Waits, etc. to that list. I haven't had "training" but I love music and I enjoy listening to his voice and watching him perform. This whole discussion is completely pointless. Discussing if someone is a "good singer" or not is akin to asking who was better Mozart or Beethoven; Monet or Van Gough. Subjective as hell and can never, ever be solved. Waste of time.
I loved Mandisa in the beginning but her performance last week was real bad and this week was worse. That's why she's leaving. Occam's razor and stuff....

I'm glad Elliot was safe last night. I hated seeing Mandissa go though. :( No way is Bucky, Ace, Kellie, Paris, or Katharine better than those 2!
My in-laws went to a Kenny Rogers concert years ago. The audience started to sing Gambler with him. Kenny stopped the show and said excuse me but people paid to hear me sing not you. He was serious. Half the audience left when he started singing again. He is arrogant.
I think Mandisa and Paris split black votes. And Paris got the young ones. Mandisa did not deserve to go. Didn't that happen a season or two ago? Some black singer was voted off and the audience was shocked. Same dynamic.
