Wyatt, I had almost come all the way around to picking Taylor as my personal favorite this year, but what the heck happened to him the last couple of weeks? Rhetorical question, of course. You don't know the answer any more than I do. He was just horrible last night. I think he might have been trying to sing in that very high-pitched John Denver style, and he just doesn't have that in his range. I would not be at all surprised to see him go tonight after that performance.
It's a shame, because he had been bringing a sense of fun and musicality to what is proving to be something of a dull season for me.
Too many typos for me today. Time to give my fingers a rest.
See you all later to find out who gets the bad news tonight.
Ah, thanks. I wasn't sure if I remember completely right, although I know there was a country night last year.
Taylor has a massive fan base so he won't go anywhere. I think he needs to get back to his basics and tell simon to STFU. If he wants a pop singer then too bad.
Elliott and Mandisa will be 2/3 bottom ones tonight.
I've read that he was very sick last night. Be that as it may, he's also screwed up by listening to someon (Simon?) about his "dancing". The last two weeks he's just been boring (although last weeks song was probably his best pure vocal). If he sings another song with the microphone on the stand he'll be in trouble. He won't go anywhere tonight though.
Yeah, it was. I use DVR and record the show before watching it, usually around 10:00pm Pacific time. I replay the performances if I'm not sure my initial reaction was right. Taylor was horrible, just horrible. He sang in a key that was way too high for his vocal range, so he was raspy and out of tune throughout. Sad. I was beginning to have high hopes for Taylor. I hope he stays and recovers next week.
I'm seeing tons of messages from the AMERICA IDOL BOARDS that Taylor Hicks was quite sick last week up to last night. That was the reason why he did not look like his old self when he was with Kenny Rogers.
His Grandma said so too.
There is a large GET WELL SOON, TAYLOR thread here :
http://myidol.idolonfox.com/Boards/topic.aspx?tid=166980
If true, this explains why he looked lethargic last night.
I hope you're both right about Taylor not going home tonight.
If he was sick, I hope he gets better soon. The show needs the life Taylor had been bringing to it.
He simply has too many fans who will vote for him regardless of what he does. The competition really is who's fans will outvote the others'. The swing vote I think is rather small.
Do you think that Taylor is having a problem in getting to sing what he wants? Is it possible that he isn't given permission to sing some songs he is more familiar with and it has just taken the life out of his performances?
I thought last night the song was sung well by Taylor if you just listened to it. It was his lack of fun in the performance that has bothered everyone, IMO. We expect him to get into what he is singing and when he doesn't it is disappointing. :)
STRICTLY FOR TAYLOR HICKS FANS ONLY....
ALICIA KEYES VOTES FOR TAYLOR HICKS AND THINKS HE's COOL.

Also, the following celebrities are certified Taylor Hicks fans :
* Ellen Degeneres
* Jenna Fischer (Pam from the American Office) gave an official SOUL PATROL shout out.
* According to posters on the Gray Charles board, Kelly Clarkson, the original American Idol picked Taylor has her fav to win.
I heard that Taylor has strep throat. If so, it's no wonder he wasn't smiling.
If he had strep throat and still managed to sing, that, alone, is amazing. But it potentially could hurt him in the long run if he can't recover fully and quickly. The contestants have a lot of rehearsing and other things they do between the weekly performances. There's little time to rest and recuperate if you get sick. Both Tamyra Gray and Kelly Clarkson got sick during season one. Tamyra wound up being booted off the show that week, and Kelly has had a tendency ever since to get throat infections when she overworks her voice.
Last year, Bo's health problems began toward the end of the season and gradually got worse during the tour. It quite literally nearly killed him. Even though he got well, the lingering effects came close to ending his career before it really began.
Idol is as much an endurance test as it is a singing contest.
Yep. They should be doing everything they can to break away from the pack. But most of them seem like they're stuck in neutral.
LOL! And the meal is a stale roll, a turnip and a medium cup of discolored water :-D
I think it's been confirmed--next week is Queen night. Oh the humanity! :o
Think Taylor will do Bohemian Rhapsody? Chris to do an acoustic minor-key version of "Fat Bottomed Girls?" Pickes to say in the interview "who's Freddie Mercury?"
Of course, what would be a hoot would be for MANDISSA to do "Fat Bottomed Girls."
