But if that were true why did Simon, et al, recant their comments?

Didn't you see the articles talking about her daddy cornered the judges during the commercial and Randy and Simon hid behind Paula who kept trying to daddy McPhee that that was their jobs and that his little girl will be all right?

I think Kat is history. Simon got an eyeful of what working with Kat in the future would be like with her stage parents. She can thank daddy for that.

"Little Sister" would have the same rockabilly vibe that Taylor captured on "Crazy Little Thing Called Love".

The lesson is this: don't attempt such numbers unless you can bring down the house. McCartney always understood that about Gene Vincent, and its not lost on a true rock and roll foot soldier like Taylor, but completely lost on a rock pretender like Chris Daughtry.

It's really quite basic. If you must rock:

MEAN IT.

RE: "Little Sister" by Robert Plant/Rockpile

Don't EVEN make me think of how great that would be (Taylor), because it won't happen : )

Loved that recording! Thanks for remembering it for me. I'm off to Itunes to see if I can buy it...

If Paris goes then where do her votes go? Likely some to Kat and Taylor, even more to Elliott and the rest stay home. No way for Chris.

If Kat goes home next then that throws everything up in the air.

Hey, 2nd place gets you a free car....

If there are any WestCoasters who want more of Paris singing in lieu of Kat stripping, you better call!

I am so glad to see that you both thought that the band was too loud, I agree. So much of the time it drowned out the singers.

When the judges keep saying it's different listening to the TV rerun they need to rethink the audience's listening pleasure and put headphones on the judges.

That's my solution.

Text messaging is the wild card here. I think that Paris is likely gone and if McPhee rolls another turkey next week she is finished.

Such drama!!

"RE: "Little Sister" by Robert Plant/Rockpile. Loved that recording!

That one's a real pisser.

Always made me realize that Planty could actually survive Zeppelin, hard as that might've been to believe in the late seventies.

I'm not surprised to see Daughtry slipping.

His notion of what it means to "rock out" is completely absurd.

The planets may be lining up well for Tay-Tay. His fan base is already huge and the most passionate, he nailed down a VFTW endorsement for a few extra votes, he has the anti-Simon vote, he took advantage of the pimp spot, and it sounds like Elvis week is a'comin'.

The forecast is grey.

Chris gets his votes from:

Women who drool and say yummy (shows that Freepers are as shallow as the next)

People who like modern rock sound of Creed, Alice in Chains, Staind, Fuel.

I think that he has stuck within a certain range and while he has surprised me with some of the softer tunes, he still relies far too much on screech vocals and the man cannot hit high notes without warbling his voice.

Thank goodness he survived to leave us "Big Log", the best title for a song EVER.

I thought the HoneyDrippers and the Shaken Not Stirred, Fate of Nations periods about summed it up for me as far as Percy's post-Zeppelin material was concerned.

Great singer, great band, different time.

Anyone needing a reminder of Zeppelin's prowess should pick up their compendium DVD. Some day college credits will be given for studying its immensity.

And desk clerks like Chris Daughtry couldn't hold a candle to one second of it.

1st-Taylor. It was Taylor's night. Did a good job with both extremes of his performance style.

Close race for 2nd in the rankings. Elliott did a decent job with both songs but wasn't as impressive as usual. Chris was good on the first song, but the second performed in the same manner emphasized what has been the knock against Chris--lack of versatility. He should have done something similar to what he did last week for his second song. 2nd-Elliott. 3rd-Chris.

4th-Katharine. Saved herself from last place with her second song.

5th-Paris. Didn't like either song. Thought Paris performed them decently, but that wasn't enough to overcome the songs themselves. Taking Katharine's weak night into account, Paris blew a real chance to last another round because of her song choices.

Paris is 3-4 years too young for this. If was 20-21 she would likely own this competition talent wise. The knock on her is that she cannot seem to define herself. Well, she actually does great with classic American songs. When her voice gets a little older....look out.

FWIW:

Elliott
Wrong song choice "On Broadway". That low register is tough. And the runs weren't on in the beginning. Ending was better. "Home" was nice. I liked that he sat and sang. Didn't look scared at all tonight. Totally relaxed with Ryan. I think that was my favorite Elliott performance ever. Grade: B

Paris
You lost me at "Prince". The only way anyone should sing a Prince song is to be totally NOT like Prince (Warren Zevon "Raspberry Beret"). I felt like it was more Prince than Tom Jones, but either way kills you. Not for her voice. "Mary J. Blige" I've never heard the song. It was better than "Kiss", but did they bleep out the "sh" word? Sure sounded like it to me! I thought she looked the best I've ever seen her look, esp. in the second outfit. Grade: C+

Chris
Hate Styx. Sorry. The second song, I wanted him to "headbang" it or something. He just stood at the mic and sang. Mr. Kat!! Grade: B-

Katherine
That "Against All Odds" stunk worse than my 10-year-old's football cleats. I really feel she cannot communicate the meaning behind a lyric. Perfect example: "Horses and Cherries" or whatever. See my rant at #10551, I don't have the strength to go there again. Grade: D

Taylor
"PTFM" was his "Screw you guys" to the PTB at Idol and I loved it. In their face, Tay-Tay! Was it the best performance ever? No, but it was the return of the happy dance and Taylor the way the beer drinkers love him. I thought his dancing was GREAT. Freeform and married to the music. "Something" was SEXY. And I can't believe I said that about Taylor. When he dropped that "something in the way she...(growled) woos me" the crowd just gasped. Pretty amazing. And I dig that he doesn't sing to the camera all the time like Kat and Chris. Grade: A
