The band has been TOO loud all season!!!

Definately! Sometimes the music should just be a subtle hint.

Kat has a fantastic voice, but I think she allows the judges to intimidate her too much. On her first song, she seemed to hold back, probably because they told her she "oversings" at times. She should just ignore them, and belt it out. She is visibly nervous, and shouldn't be, although I would be too! She should just let it all hang out and go for it!!!!

My recap:

Elliot - More of his great voice on display in both songs. Kinda bland though and he was back to some of his old hoppy movements on "Broadway". That Buble song bites, but he did fine with it. He should survive, but will need a "moment" soon to make it all the way. Don't ever count this talented yet humble young man out though!

Paris - I think we all know it's the end of the line for her. She needed to hit a HR, but managed only a couple of singles. She is never bad, but not great often enough to win over new fans. I actually agree with Abdohol that she is better with the "old stuff". Hope she sticks with singing and not gyno.

Chris - I can't add to what Links said - ..."two songs 26 years apart but indistinguishable". Judges, don't blame his tired voice for something y'all would have crapped on everyone else for - that second song was screechy and irritating. What are his concerts gonna be like after a few songs (and how do you know when one song ends and another begins)? "Renegade" was good Daughtry-stuff though and he isn't going anywhere. He hasn't had a serious misstep yet in regards to song choice or overall performance. He won't beat himself, someone will have to knock him off.

Kat - Shouldn't Fox be airing her performances after 10 PM, when the kids are asleep? I think she has figured out her only way to be A-1 on AI is to show plenty of T & A. The first song was dreadful, I mean Pickler-bad. Off the whole song and a terrible choice and arrangement to boot. Definitely vote-off-able. But she benefitted the most from the two-song format and did a decent job with the Turnstall tune. The drums helped her as she went through some yoga apparently. Catchy song, and while new and hip, also had a classic flavor to it. Saved her bacon probably.

Taylor - Make no mistake, this was HIS night. Gave us both Elvises in one hour (if that is the theme next week, look out competition). The first song, er, performance was a big hairy moon to Simon and Nigel, and a tip of the cap to his fans who know he got the shaft last week. Only Taylor can get away with that act, and he did. Notable was him showing that old uninhibited joy during the banter w/Ryan too, something we've only seen on SNL as of late. The second song, "Something", was exquisite, and a perfect way to offset his first selection. He was so into this song, yet kept it tender, sweet and soulful. Of all the contestants, he used the two-song format the best - showing two completely different sides, each crowd-pleasers in their own way.

The judges continue to completely alienate me. They once were so integral, now they just seem to be a waste of time until the next song. Overall, not a night of greatness, but positions are being soldified leading up to the finale.

I think Taylor gained, Chris and Elliot stood firm, Kat slipped a tad, and Paris is waving buh-bye.

So you get to watch it the same time I do. I still liked Kat the best.

Yes I do ..I am kind of like Elliot right now. Even though I do not usually like country, I really liked Bucky.

more from that other site regarding the post:

Yeah, and the report actually explained that the point of the site is to protest TPTB at AI, and they did a graphic overlay with the transcript of the post explaining why VFTW endorsesTaylor...

She did a poor job on the Crack Ho's song last week

But if that were true why did Simon, et al, recant their comments?

But anyway. If you want to put her third for tonight...fine!

She's still a better singer than Taylor and Chris even though I'd like their singing more if i heard it on the radio.

She does not handle power notes well at all. She does much better job with sultry songs than the diva collection.

I felt really bad when Bucky got kicked off; I do like country; I couldn't stand Ace.

"Little Sister"

Robert Plant did a fabulous version of this song with Rockpile on the 1979 Concert for Kampuchea [Cambodia for those like me who didn't recognize Khmer Rouge propaganda].

Taylor would kick the ass out of this number.

And then, "Something". His delivers with nuance, with a touch of soul. And the stone serious look. In the mood. I've never seen anything like it. Unbelievable. When T. Hicks leaves the building, my TV goes dark.

And there's the difference between Taylor and Katherine. Taylor communicates the song with every bit of his being (except when he's forced to do a cr*ppy song at the last minute) -- the listener/viewer understands the song through his performance.

Contrast that with Katherine. That 2nd song? What the hell was that all about? During the first part of each sung line, she looked ready to murder someone, but at the end of the line, she would throw back her head and smile that beauty pageant smile. What!!??? I don't get it! I still don't have a clue about the meaning of that song. Totally weird and, really, it p*ssed me off.

You know what else p*sses me off? Simon and the whole "wedding singer" thing. Like being a wedding singer is the ultimate insult. If I went to a wedding and had a guy like Taylor or Elliot singing, I would be floored. And happy. And isn't that what entertainment is all about? Making people happy? Who deserves our respect more -- the wedding singer who gives his or her all to make a couple and their guests remember a moment for the rest of their lives, or an Ashley Simpson or any of about a hundred manufactured "singers" out there who all look the same and sound the same and don't make you feel anything but regretful that you wasted 3 minutes listening to their latest *HIT SINGLE*!!?

Taylor HAS to do "Hunk of Burning Love". Just has to.

Then probably something a lot sweeter, like the gospel "Peace in the Valley".

I sooo agree!! The band has been TOO loud all season!!!

I agree! Every year so far! It's like they set the band's volume over what is heard on TV. Whose a bigger audience, the audience or us? It;s why Simon had to recant his comments from last week!

Because she is nervous! Wish she would relax more! I used to sing in public, so I recognize it I guess, at least that is my opinion. Reminds me of the olden days! :-)

I agree! I would add that I think Elliot might have gained on Chris tonight.

I'm thinking we might see a Taylor/Elliot final. Wouldn't THAT just rot Simon's sox?

Agreed, wedding singers are getting a bad rap from Simon. Also agree about Kat - the music means nothing to her, she doesn't even know what mood to strike.

I am so glad to see that you both thought that the band was too loud, I agree. So much of the time it drowned out the singers.
